Judy plopped listlessly on Nick's hideous lime green couch. It had been a horrible day: endless paperwork, a 'meter maid' shift, and even a couple of flaming wombats (long story—don't ask). Worst of all, Nick was gone; he had to spend the day at a Career Day at a school. "It'll be good for the kids to see a fox as a police officer," Chief Bogo had said. 'Well,' Judy thought, 'I need Nick more than those kids do!'

At that moment, the door burst open. Slamming the door behind him, Nick limped to the couch and collapsed beside Judy. "That," he announced, "was awful."

The bunny lay her head on his shoulder. "What happened?"

Nick sighed. "Well, for one, most of them wouldn't believe I'm actually a cop."

"Were you behaving yourself?" Judy teased.

He smiled a little. "Believe it or not, I was."

She laughed. "See? At least you weren't in the wrong."

"I know. I just wish…I wish everyone would stop assuming I'm just a sly fox!"

"Nick?" Judy said slowly. "This isn't just about those kids, is it?"

"No," he admitted.

Shyly, Judy asked, "Do you want to talk about it?"

The fox shook his head. "It's not a big deal. It's just the little things. Like when animals do a double take and you know they're wondering whose uniform I stole. Or when we're out walking and I hear someone whisper, 'what's she doing with the likes of him?' Stuff like that."

Judy sighted. "It's like that for both of us. This morning, a squirrel told me to 'stop playing dress-up' when I gave him a parking ticket. And last night a rhino almost trampled me, then acted like it was my fault, just for existing!"

"Animals can be pretty hateful," Nick replied.

Suddenly, the bunny sat up straighter. "You know what?" she said. "Who cares?"

She continued carefully. "Just because animals stereotype you doesn't mean you have to be what they think you are. And if I know you're a good animal, and you know you're a good animal, then does it matter what the rest of Zootopia thinks?"

"You know, Carrots, just this once, I think you might be right."

Judy smirked. "Aren't I always?"
