Albus stood in the middle of the Great Hall along with other nervous eleven year olds. His hands shook from his anxiety. He could NOT be in Slytherin. Despite his father's reassurance, he could not help but feel that the Sorting Hat would force him into a death sentence. The worst part was that he knew he wasn't brave enough to be in Gryffindor, he would disappoint everyone. He was a Potter; he needed to be in Gryffindor. He glanced over at James who had a smirk on his face, probably sniggering at his younger brother's apprehension.

"Parkinson, Sarah." Hagrid called out. Her last name sounded familiar. "Slytherin!" There was an eruption of cheers from the Slytherin table. Albus braced himself; he knew what was coming up next.

"Peakes, Henry." Albus let out a sigh of relief, but then tensed up again realizing he was definitely next this time. The Sorting Hat considered for a moment and then erupted, "Hufflepuff!" Albus noticed the disappointed look on Henry's face as he dragged his feet over to the clapping table of finders.

"Potter, Albus." His eyes grew wide as he hesitantly walked toward the battered hat. His heart was racing, what would the sorting hat pick? "So, I see that you are the son of famous Potter aren't you? Well, like your father, you obviously don't want to be put into Slytherin. And also like your father, you would do extremely well there. Well, well. What to do, what to do…" Albus gasped, he knew it was about to make a decision. "Better be….Ravenclaw!" His heart stopped. He had not considered even being put into Ravenclaw! He had even thought about Hufflepuff, but Ravenclaw? A look of stunned faces were radiating from the Gryffindor table. There were cheers emitting from the Ravenclaw table. He tentatively walked towards the table and sat down next to Cassia Longbottom, the daughter of Luna and Neville Longbottom, who gave him a comforting pat on his back. Albus was too shocked for words.

Cassia leaned towards him and whispered, "It's okay, Ravenclaw is great! Plus, you have me!" He looked at her. She was in her second year and spent a lot of time at the Potter residence. He gave her a grateful nod and turn back around to listen to the rest of the Sorting.
