A/N: Inspired by that adorable calendar image of Sesshomaru, Rin, and Jaken. The one who encouraged me to write this autumn theme, thanks and sorry it took so long.

Timeless
The crunches of fallen leaves under Sesshomaru's boots were muted firecrackers, but their colors were no less vibrant. His gaze shifted from vermilion ground to cerulean sky. Summer changed to autumn and autumn to winter, but the sky never changed to anything – an ageless entity, unfazed by all.
Another step and a twig snapped.
The ground was littered with leaves – a palette of orange, saffron, brown, and crimson – petrified corpses unable to match the eternity of the sky. Tree branches clawed to reach it, but never could and were laid barren at this time of year. Eventually, even the highest leaves fluttered off in autumn, reducing the sky to solitude once more.
"Oh look, Master Jaken! Snow!" Reflections shriveled as Rin pranced through the leaves and into white slush. "Eek! It's so cold!"
"Well, of course it's cold, you twit!" Jaken finally caught up to his charge, his puffs of breath clouding before his beak. "Winter's coming!"
Rin smiled. "I know just like it always does, but it's still so exciting! This whole change from one season to the next! I always loved the fall, you know. All the pretty colors 'cause nothing can match the way the leaves – Oh!" She suddenly looked up. "Wow! Look at the sunset! It's so orange and bright. Like the sky is matching the color of the leaves! Do you see it, Lord Sesshomaru?"
Sesshomaru did and slightly dipped his head.
Jaken rolled his eyes. This brat was annoying his master again. "What gives, you simpleton? It's just the sky and the change of seasons. They're always the same. They change, but they always return next year and the sky is blue again after a storm. Tch, simple minds simple grasps."
"But they are kind of short." Rin tilted her head pensively.
"So enjoy it while they last! Pah! Must I explain everything to you?"
Sesshomaru didn't need to hear anymore. He started off again. Already, he knew of the seasons to follow, the corners of his mouth curled at the thought. But he still glanced back to see them catch up.
