This is my first Fan Fiction! Be gentle!
Mercury was sitting in the graveyard, staring at the grave next to Suki's. On the tombstone, in big letters, read the name 'Black'. That was her beloved mate. She sighed, and set her ring down on the dirt by the grave. She couldn't cry anymore about it. She had wasted all her tears the day he died, and at this point, she just couldn't bring herself to tears. She slowly stood up, as it started to rain, just to rub in the fact that she couldn't be with him anymore. She felt a hand lay on her shoulder, And she looked up to see Zim. His eyes looked empty too. Not as empty as hers, but still filled with sorrow. "It's been three days since he died, Mercury…." Zim reminded her. She narrowed her eyes at him, and growled.
"I know…What, do you want to taunt me about it?" She asked harshly. Zim shook his head, and opened an umbrella above their heads.
"Stay under the umbrella, stupid." He said, ignoring her comment. Mercury looked at the ground, and her skin, still sizzling a bit from the rain. She let out a squeak, and they began to walk away. Mercury remembered the accident…Black had gone to Irk, for tallest business. If only he had checked his v00t before he left….It was her fault for not reminding him. Zim saw a small tear fall from Mercury's face, and he wiped it from her cheek.
"Black is an idiot….its not your fault…" Zim said. He had heard the guilt story from her and knew it all too well. He wasn't very fond of Mercury, but she was a nice girl. He actually enjoyed her company. But he wasn't about to say that out loud. As they stepped into Zim's base, Mercury immediately flopped down on the couch. Zim closed the umbrella, and set it by the door. He sat next to Mercury on the oversized couch. He looked at her expressionless face. He didn't like seeing her like this…Its been three days, but it feels like its been forever since she smiled. Mercury looked at Zim.
"I just….I just can't believe he' gone..!" She said, and squeaked again. She squeaks when she has an overload of emotion, something Zim wasn't ever glad to hear. Zim sighed, and got closer to Mercury. He leaned his head towards her face, and closed his eyes. "D…Don't kiss me..!" Mercury shouted quietly. Zim shook his head. 'What was I thinking…?' He thought to himself.
"I….I'm sorry…" He said. He didn't know what else to say just then. Mercury looked away from him. She turned her head back to him and lightly pecked his lips with hers. Then she stood up, grabbed his umbrella and left him there, a sweet, small blush plastering his face. "Stupid girl." Zim said.
