A/N: I was planning to get back to writing my other story this weekend, but then this project was assigned. I decided to post it anyway. Enjoy! :)
10 years later...
Even as I write this,I find it hard to believe that ten years have passed since my beautiful wife, Gaea and I escaped the Cursed City and began our life here. However, now, it isn't fair to call it our family's home only. This land in the Uncharted Forest belongs to all the individuals who escaped the Cursed City.
Six years ago, after our son, Hyperion turned three, I returned to the Cursed City, my head filled with the knowledge I'd gained from studying the books of the Unmentionable Times. It was a long and dangerous journey, but I managed to lead my friends International 4-8818, Fraternity 2-5503, and Solidarity 9-6347 away from the Cursed City and into a haven of freedom and individuality. When we returned, I gave them each a new, proper name. International 4-8818 became Ares, Fraternity 2-5503 became Apollo, and Solidarity 9-6347 became Hephaestus. Gaea and I decided to open our home to those men and women who wanted to leave the Cursed City. As the new society began to grow, I knew it needed a name of its own to distinguish it from any other.
I bestowed upon it the name Olympus, after the home of the Olympian Gods who watched over the world. Our society would watch over the development of a new chapter in our history. A history of freedom where men will once again rule the Earth.
Over the years, I've led even more men and women away from the confines of the evil society, on which I bestowed the name The Underworld, and into the freedom of Olympus. Olympus has thrived, while The Underworld has declined. Soon, The Underworld's laws will not apply to any man, for all men will live in Olympus, or they will perish with the memory of The Underworld.
As I write this, I watch mine and Gaea's son, Hyperion, play outside with the other children in Olympus, a freedom that we never had as children. It fills my body and spirit with joy when I see men experiencing freedom for the first time. None of them have ever been able to do what they want or live their lives as they wish. I, Prometheus, was the one man to change mankind, and for that I am proud. I have fought for the freedom of man. For his rights, his life, and his honor. However, I could not have done it without the Sacred Word: Ego.
A/N: Not one of the best papers I've ever written, but if you've read the book Anthem, I hope you at least sort of liked it. I plan to update A Quest to Be Noticed next weekend. (Maybe...)
