Forever In a Day

Pounding Hooves

A lonely figure on a white steed. Racing onward towards a certain goal.

Hurry

His time was almost up. One hundred years, he was almost there. Sleeping peacefully she waited, unaware of his coming.

Faster

Would she still be there? A thousand thoughts scurry through a fevered mind as it moves to a ruined castle.

You'll be late

A voice whispers to a frightened prince, frightened that he was late, that she would be gone.

You're too late

The drawbridge lowers, as if expecting him. He hesitates only for a moment before rushing in.

She's gone

At the top of the stairs he runs to a room. In burgundy and gold it's empty save for a shadowy figure in white.

I'm sorry

The figure turns slowly. A sorrowful face gazes at him.

I tried to stay

She says nothing, just stares. As if asking a question she lower eyes, once so full of life, now dead.

Will you forgive me?

Forever in a day. It is over. The princess is lost, never to be found.
