Author's note: Hello! Oops, I wrote a story. This is a oneshot based off of the song Frozen Snow by Eddplant. This is my first actual Doctor Who fanfic. Reading and reviewing would be nice, as I would like to know how to improve my writing(:
Disclaimers: I do not own Doctor Who or any of the characters. I also do not own the song Frozen Snow so yeah don't say I do because I don't.
Frozen snow cracks beneath my feet
and I feel every wrong I ever inflicted
Sweet-scented smoke fills my lungs
and all I taste is what you could've meant to me
if not for growing up, or moving on,
or oceans I can't cross
I'll take to pen and paper,
stroke these metal strings
to express my hope, my dreams, my loss
It's 2005, a brand new year. The Doctor walks down a road filled with people cheering and celebrating. Out of all the people crowding the streets, he sees just one. Rose Tyler. Defender of the Earth. His pink-and-yellow girl. As he walks towards her, he feels the snow crunching beneath his feet. He decides to address her because, why not? She doesn't know him yet. "What year is this?" he asks.
"Blimey, how much have you had?" says Rose. He shrugs. "2005. January the first."
"2005. Tell you what, I bet you're gonna have a really great year."
"Yeah?" Rose asks with a smile. The Doctor just smiles back, in too much pain to say much more.
"See ya!" Rose walks away.
And with that, he leaves his beloved Rose Tyler for what feels like the last time. He groans in pain, falling against the wall of the alleyway.
...
And I am waking up, I'm changing,
I am constantly in flux
One moment happy to be me
the next just praying to be "us"
"I'm dying" thought the Doctor. Finally letting the thought enter his brain, he fell to the ground in pain. He looked up and saw Ood Sigma.
"We will sing to you, Doctor. The Universe will sing you to your sleep." The Doctor struggled towards the TARDIS as the Ood sang their song.
"This song is ending, but the story never ends."
The Doctor manages to make it into the TARDIS. He is already starting to regenerate, the bright glow shining from his right hand. Visiting his companions had been painful, but quite necessary and long overdue. He owed them so much after all of the times he had put their lives in danger. Seeing Rose before he had ever met him had been painful and pretty dangerous, but what does he care? He's dying and he loves her.
"I don't want to go," says the Doctor with tear filled eyes. And with that, the regeneration intesifies, making him cry a bit. His whole body is consumed with the energy, and that man he used to be is now gone.
