Walking Through Life

By The Ice Within

They were warm – your hands,

They were kind – your eyes,

They were sweet – your smiles,

They were loving – your everything.

One step, I fall,

One step, I fail,

Hands out, I call for help,

Deafening silence, the only reply.

I was falling, through darkness,

I was drowning, through pain,

Death tortured me, giving me life,

Time hurt me, extending my time.

Life is a forest with trees,

Green when happy,

Orange when angered,

And gone when alone.

I run in the forest,

Swamplands, darkened plants,

So dark, so cold,

All alone.

Pain, sadness,

Anger, disdain,

Betrayal, distrust,

Countdown of life.

Three hundred and sixty five days,

The sky changes,

Dark and cold;

Light and warm.

Twelve months,

The sun changes,

Hot and glowing;

Frozen and dead.

Thirty days,

Hopelessness finds a new owner,

Desperation shows in another pair of eyes,

Life gives another evil smile.

Twenty four hours,

The forest path diverge,

A shadow at the end,

A hand stretching to help.

Sixty minutes,

Walking through the forest,

No longer alone,

Together.

Sixty seconds,

Hands entwined,

Steps synced,

Together.

Life is a chessboard,

Black and white,

Squares and a board,

Spread out to play.

Life and Death,

Two players,

Manipulating chess pieces,

Killing and torturing.

Step after step,

Pain after pain,

Fall down; stand up,

Give up; find hope.

Endless darkness,

Fear of Death,

Fear of Life,

Countdown of life.

Three hundred and sixty five days,

Forward, back, diagonal,

Repeating cycle of life and death,

Endless; ongoing.

Twelve months,

Spring then summer,

Autumn then winter,

Endless; ongoing.

Thirty days,

One step each day,

Slow and painful,

Endless; ongoing.

Twenty-four hours,

Sun up, sun down,

Moon up, moon down,

Endless; ongoing.

Sixty minutes,

A light in the darkness,

Glowing and pure,

Waiting.

Sixty seconds,

Hands tightening,

Walking onwards,

Together.

They were warm – your hands,

They were kind – your eyes,

They were sweet – your smiles,

They were loving – your everything.

I fall; you pull me up,

I fail; you support me,

Hands out, I call for help,

Warm hands, my awaited response.

I was falling, through darkness,

I was drowning, through pain,

Death tortured me, giving me life,

Time hurt me, extending my time.

But I don't mind,

This time I'm not alone,

This time we go through life,

Together.

A/N: Yup, not my best, sorry. This is dedicated to Justin Tsang, or Juz as I call him. Side by side, we'll walk through this. Good luck in high school.
