In The End
Brave and young, he valiantly fought
The war against good and evil
Only, in the end, could one win
Only, in the end, could one survive.
Who? What? Where? When? Why?
Questions asked and yet not all answered
Loved ones lost, and new romances found
But, in the end, all perished
As tempers raged, and their souls fought
Mind and body bruised
Death clouded all vision
But still the war continued...
While people watched in horror
As one went down, the other looked victorious
Until, one rose
Bravely he stepped forward and cast his last
With shock the last fell, dead
The winner slouched in triumphant exhaustion
And from the mist surrounding
Ran his love to his side
With a kiss and a smile they renounced their love
And with a final good-bye
The victor died
Leaving behind a lost young
His only true love
And a love he'll never know.
