Not You â€" Tin Tower
By Farla
I don't know how you got past the gatekeeper, but he was an old man, an old man who knew few followed the teachings anymore and that there would be no one to take his place. An old man who knew that if the One didn't come soon, it wouldn't matter who would take his place. He heard what he wanted to hear when you rang the bell.
You have gotten past the Wise Trio as well, who I honestly thought were good guardians, honestly thought they would know better then to let you though, honestly thought they would have the wisdom to know that strength in battle does not matter. When will humans learn that a strong trainer need not be kind? The point of the battle was not to see if you won. The point of that battle was to see how you handled your pokemon, if you treated them with kindness, but we have been sleeping long and the truth has been forgotten.
And now you dare, you who are not worthy, you dare to enter the Tin Tower, the place of rest and healing, you dare to come here and challenge us? Once, once long ago before we slept, once the guardians of the Tower would have tossed you out of here in horror. But now it is forgotten that battles are not allowed here in this place of healing and life, and there are no longer any guards to protect the great phoenix Ho-oh, and it does not matter for she knows better then to rest here.
My two brothers run from the evil of your soul, though they are both Light, fire and electric. For your soul is not black, no, it is not wrong as the humans understand it. But it is soiled, no, it is filthy, it reeks of corruption and careless cruelty. I, however, am the guardian of purity, and I shall not let you defile this sanctuary.
You are not the one I am waiting for. No, I am waiting for the other, the one who at first seemed to the humans to be the evil one, the cruel one, but he has learned and now sees and speaks the truth. It is him I await, not you.
We battle. Your pokemon do not wish to fight, for I am the goddess of the waters and the wind and because they know what will happen if I am caught. But they cower at your feet and you do not even notice their fear as they fight in desperation to win.
I beat them. It is hard, because they are afraid of you and afraid of losing, and because their eyes beg me to let them win, though they know the penalty. But I cannot, could never, for I am Goddess of the Waters, for I am child of the northern wind, and I and my brothers are no more meant to be captured then a breeze.
Your pokemon defeated, I leap at you, determined to force you to leave the sanctuary. But you toss a pokeball and I cannot dodge in time, caught in mid-leap as I am. It hits and to my horror I realize it is a masterball. I let out one last anguished scream, calling to my brothers before I am trapped, howling to them that you are worse then you seemed, more powerful, and to hurry, hurry, to beat you before your pokemon grow stronger and you get another masterball. Then I am trapped, caged in the boundless abyss of a pokeball. Corruption has defeated Purity. What will become of the world?
This is the second Not You story. The first is Not You â€" Dragon's Den. Once again, I got the idea because of all the nice people in Crystal who keep babbling about how Crystal treats her pokemon with trust and love and is a great person. Because really, who can honestly say they treat their pokemon with trust and love in the game? If your rival and Lance are any example, it doesn't make you win.
