Summary: Nathan's thoughts on how he can feel Audrey's thoughts
**Flashbacks**
Thoughts
Nathan knew it wasn't her.
As soon as she touched him to untie the ropes, he knew.
He knew she was dead, but at least, at the very fucking least…
He felt her. He did. He remembers the first time.
**Flashback**
He never thought it possible he would be able to feel anything again. Ever since the troubles affected him at thirteen.
But there she was, leaning against his truck comforting him about his recent heartbreak.
"You're my friend." She wrinkles her nose, trademark parker he thinks.
"What?"
She leans closer. "You're my friend," she states like it's the most obvious thing in the world.
"I care about you." She leans even closer and kisses him on the cheek. His hand immediately shooting up to the spot she just touched, eyes wide. He felt it.
**End of Flashback**
It was just like Audrey in every way down to his favorite expression.
He didn't know it wasn't her at least until his "dad" tied him to the chair and it untied him.
Skin on skin. Just for a second. That's all it took.
He had to make sure though. She wasn't just anybody.
It was Audrey, FBI agent from Massachusetts with no life what so ever. Awkward, blunt, sweet, and so full of life.
"Can I talk to you for a sec?"
"Mmm."
So much like her.
"Do you trust me?"
He takes her hand, squeezes it, and changes it to both hands.
Please, God something.
Her eyes search his, confused.
"Of course I do." He squeezes harder, "Are you okay?"
"No I'm not."
He crushes her lips to hers. Desperate, needing to feel something because he knows if he doesn't it's the shape shifter and Audrey's gone.
Nothing.
He slips the gun from his waist, pulls the trigger.
It falls to the floor, already writhing and morphing.
"How'd you know," it croaks.
"Audrey, I can feel her touch, but I can't felt yours." He grits out.
**Flashback**
He remembers how he tried to test it out.
"High-five, Parker." He knows she won't do it without a fight, but leaves his hand up anyways.
He knows she'll wrinkle her nose in three, two, o- ahh… there it is.
His face said just do it and he keeps his hand up.
She shakes her head, smirks and slaps his hand, hard. It actually hurts him and he shakes his hand.
He's decided no more high-fives with Parker. Decides he doesn't like pain.
But then he figures feeling something is better than nothing.
**End of flashback**
He's sprinting to the basement.
It can't be too late. Hold on Parker, I'm coming.
He knows his eyes are tearing up and he doesn't really want that bastard Duke to see but he's desperate and doesn't know what he's going to do if it's too late.
He shouts her name because it's the only thing he can do while trying to get to her.
There's a box. He knows she's in there because there's nowhere else, and not finding her is not an answer.
He claws at the lid, gets it open.
Almost sobs with relief when he sees her.
He's calling her name over and over, but she's not waking up, Duke's pulling her out, Nathan has her hand. He's rubbing it, feeling her warmth; he's feeling her warmth.
Her nose scrunches and she's delirious.
"Are those tears? Because crying will not be tolerated."
They're finally home. Away from danger, well, as far as you can be from danger in Haven.
"When did you know it was me?"
He's an awkward liar, but he tries "I just did."
"You think you know me that well?" Her nose scrunches and he smiles.
I can feel you. I know your touch.
"No. Not that well."
