"Stop!"
When the man Harry Potter, undercover Auror, was currently chasing continued to run, Harry took out his wand.
"I said, stop!"Still running, the man shot a hex over his shoulder at the Auror."Fine, have it your way," Harry muttered, taking aim and firing an, "Expelliarmus!"The curse crashed into a glass window of a shop. "Shit!" Harry took careful aim and this time, managed to hit the man with the curse. "Now, what do you have to say for yourself, thief?" He stared down at the dazed man. Sounds of people shouting suddenly registered in his mind.
"What the hell?"
"Someone call the police!"
"Oh God, its terrorists!"
"Girls, get down, I don't want you to get hurt!"
"Uh..." Harry stared around him, looking at the mass confusion and chaos, all caused by him. Muggles shouted for help and called the police from their phones, all the while keeping an eye on the 'terrorist' and his victim. "Aw, shit."
Draco Malfoy, rich, elegant, and undercover Auror, was currently at the hideout of a small crime boss dealing in illegal potions, talking business. If he couldn't get the money from his inheritance because of his father's position as Death Eater, he wasn't going to wallow away. He needed money, so why not deal a little? Even if it is only a small crime boss...
"So, if I keep the Aurors away from your little hideaway and business deals, I get forty percent of what ever you get?"
"Well, I wouldn't say forty, maybe a little less than that..." The crime boss wheedled.
"I'll just take my leave then, shall I?" Draco stood and to all appearances, seemed to be getting ready to leave.
"No, no, forty it is," the boss hastily put out.
Draco sat back down. "Alright then,--"
"Everyone freeze, or we'll hex you!" About twenty Aurors apparated all around them, holding their wands ready to curse.
"Hold on a minute, I'm an Auror," Draco calmly slid out his Auror card. "I was undercover, and I was just about to arrest this man."
The crime boss gaped at him, surprised by his sudden change of sides.
The Aurors eyed him, then one said, "Come with me, we'll go see the boss." Draco sighed. Can't people make a little extra on the side?
"I cannot believe this!" The current captain Auror of district 401 was ranting at his incompetent underling. "You're the bloody savior of the world, and yet, you can't handle a simple thing as chase down a store thief, without screwing it up! What's worse is, the man didn't even have a Galleon on him! He only had twenty Knuts! Twenty! Why can't you do anything right?! After you defeated You-Know-Who, all you can do is screw up! Think before you act, Potter!"
"Sir, I—" Harry tried to interrupt.
"Don't say a word! Did you even pay attention in your Auror classes?! Why can't you do something right?!"
"Captain Tim, I'm so—"
"Stop! I don't want to hear anything, you are getting a partner. I think you two deserve each other. You can screw yourselves up for all I care." Captain Tim glared heavily at Harry, who looked taken aback.
Truly, the captain wasn't bad-when he wasn't being Captain Tim of Auror division 401. Then, he was an ass, pure and simple. Captain Tim yelled a lot. Especially at people who screwed up. For some reason, Captain Tim seemed to yell at Harry a lot. Too many times. Now, he was getting a partner. Was he any good?
The captain opened the door when a knock interrupted the yelling. "Good, you're just in time." He let the knocker enter his office. "Malfoy, meet your new partner, Potter."
A/N: This seemed like a good place to stop for the prologue. Does this seem familiar to you? No? Yes? Well, if it is, I'm changing a lot of things. Should I make this slash, or just a friendship?
