Timidly

I Approach

The shell of who once

Was my brother.

I shake him

Crying.

I call his name with tears.

I ask him where he went.

And he replies.

He tells me

That I should not have called

That he is dead.

He is in a better place

He explains sorrowfully

Where a man in a yellow suit

And only one eye

Is his friend.

And then he slips away

Never to be seen

Until I pass

Away.

I hurt inside.

I hurt a lot.

But I think I will manage.

Until the sweet release of death.

A man in a yellow suit

And only one eye

Comes to talk to me often

And tells me stories of my brother.

I miss him.

Gone- By Paradise Dawn

It has felt like yesterday was the day he passed. But, as I lie on my deathbed, now an old frail woman, I can only smile. I'll get to see him soon, my dear brother. I feel small hands grabbing my own, and I smile as I look at a pair of twins. One wore glasses, and the other wore a bandage on his face. Stanley and Stanford, my grandsons. They were just like my great uncles, down to the letter. I just hope that they won't go down the same dark path…

"Grandma Mabel?" Stanley squeaks out, fiddling with his striped shirt. "When will you wake up?" Oh goodness, is that how my daughter explained it to them?

"Dummy, she's not going to sleep." Stanford said with a sober face, his voice cracking. "She's dying. I read all about it and-"

"Boys," I said, my voice crackling with old age. "Let me tell you one last story before I die?"

"Yeah Grandma!" Stanley cheered, while Stanford looked a little happier.

"You see, there is a place deep in Oregon, a place called Gravity Falls." I began, before my heart seized up on me. Not wanting to worry the boys, I continued. "Now, if you remember, my brother died at a very young age. However, before that, we used to have the most grand adventures there." I coughed a little, and Stanley, bless his little heart, handed me my water glass.

"I can't tell you about it though because," I smiled. "I want you two to go there together. No matter what happens, promise me you will go there someday, please?"

Stanley and Stanford shared a grim look, and nodded. "Yes Grandma," They said together.

There goes my heart. I watched my hand fall out of the boy's grasp, and smiled weakly before everything disappeared.

And then, I was standing.

Not quite standing, per se, but more like I was floating inside a grey forest. I felt young again, and looked at my hands to see myself a healthy young woman again.

"Dipper! She's here, the Star is here!" A familiar voice broke into my thoughts, and I saw a man in a yellow suit sprinting towards me, and Dipper running right behind him. They both were happy, but I looked at them warily.

"Who are you?" I flinched away as the man reached for my hands, but Dipper was right there to steady me.

"It's Bill, Mabel." He said, and we embraced, hugging tightly. I didn't want to let go, never ever again. However, he pulled away, and grabbed my hand. "Come on, Mabel!" He sounded excited. "Let's go explore!"

I felt 13 again. I let him pull me along, happily.

We were together again.
