"Mr. Hummel, sir?"
Burt Hummel looked up from the car he was working on, "Blaine. What's up son?"
The young man shifted uncomfortably, "Uh sir, I was wondering if I could talk to you."
"Sure Blaine. Is something wrong son?"
Blaine smiled a bit at the second use of the word son, "I wanted to ask your permission for Kurt's hand in marriage sir. I know we're only 22 and that's really kind of young to be getting married but I know we're…"
"Blaine, stop. Of course you have my blessing. You two are meant to be together, any idiot can see that. I'll admit that after out last talk in this garage I had my doubts about you but a few days later I just had a feeling that you and Kurt were supposed to be together. No matter how afraid I am of letting him go and losing him I know I'm leaving him in good hands."
"Mr. Hummel, you'll never lose Kurt, he loves you. You're the only real family he has left. No matter how great Mrs. Hummel and Finn are or how much he loves them, he really only has you."
Burt shook his head, "No, he still has Mollie. She's the one who brought you guys together and she's the one who made me see that what you have with each other is special. I know he doesn't believe it but Mollie is always with Kurt; she loved, loves, him and I know she would have loved to meet you Blaine. You really are something special you know."
Blaine smiled, "No sir, Kurt's the special one. And if his mother was half of the amazing person he is, and I don't doubt for a second that she wasn't, then I would have loved to meet her too and thank her for creating a person as wonderful as Kurt."
Burt watched as Blaine shivered, "Cold son? I could turn down the A/C in here."
"Uh no, actually I just got really warm. But it felt good, like a hug or something. I don't know; it was comforting." He shivered again and shook his head as if to tell himself to stop being silly. "It's gone now. Must have been a wave of the hot air from outside. I'll see you later Mr. Hummel, I have to go plan a proposal."
The older man watched as his soon-to-be-son-in-law practically skipped away. He knew it wasn't a blast of hot summer air that had hit Blaine; it had been Mollie letting him know that she was just as thankful for Blaine as he was of her. He had saved her little boy when it seemed no one could or would. Burt shivered as heat hit him and his heart filled with love, "I know Mol, soul mates. Just like us although I hope they get more time together than we did."
The heat faded from Burt but he knew that Mollie wasn't really gone because he kept her in his heart after all this time; always.
