OoOoOoOo
He kept hidden. Unwilling to break the tender moment between his 'little girl' and her 'Partner'. He chuckled softly. She wasn't little anymore. She was all grown up. Without his help. And something told him she wasn't without the help of a certain federal agent along the way.
Booth.
Max had alot of respect for Seeley Booth.
It was that simple.
A man of honor. Max could identify with that but that wasn't the real reason he liked Booth. From the moment he had met him disguised as a priest he had known that this man was important. Just how important he had come to learn over time. 'Partners' that was what Temperance liked to call their relationship. 'Partners and friends'
To put it bluntly that was all a load of crap!
Seeley Booth was THE single, most important figure in his daughters life.
It was that simple.
But their little charade was coming to an end. Max didn't kid himself. As ignorant as people liked to believe his little girl she was a perceptive person. She knew as well as Booth did that their ability to keep their relationship platonic was finally crumbling. And the evidence was right in front of him.
Booth had revealed more of himself during that trial than he would've liked to. Max was sure of that. It had hurt him deeply to point the finger at his partner, his best friend, however much she had wanted it pointed in her direction. He flinched visibly at each question as if they were physical blows and spoke to her and her only when he analysed her character.
As if they were the only people in the world...
It was that simple.
And the whole court had seen it. He bore his heart on his sleeve and his guilt on his shoulders. It struck a chord in the fugitive father's heart along with everyone else in that courtroom.
He had watched the non-verbal conversation that he couldn't understand and had seen the anguish in them both. He had seen their devotion to one another time and time again.
He watched the couple's interaction now with a soft smile as Booth hugged his Bones tightly.Protecting the normally un-protectable Doctor.
And he was happy to admit that he never felt the fatherly urge of protectiveness. She was already more protected than he could ever wish for.
It was Angela who broke the spell. Someone always did with those two. Max mused somewhat amused.
Ready for his entrance then.
He found it funny really, that their relationship could be so complex and yet so frustratingly simple.
They were head over heels for each other.
It was that simple.
