Puck sat perched high in a tree surveying the woods below him. The rising sun was busy painting the Eastern horizon orange. Dawn had woken him up, but Puck knew that this morning most of his fellows would sleep late. Oberon and Titania had reunited the night before and most of the fairies had only stopped their celebration an hour or two ago.

He had certainly celebrated as well, but today was too promising for Puck to sleep through! After they made up, Oberon always spent at least a full day with Titania in her bower. Puck knew that if Oberon was busy with his queen, then he wouldn't be able to give his ever-loyal servant any tasks or trouble himself to see what that servant was busy amusing himself with.

The possibilities of an entire day of unchecked mischief was far too good to pass up! The problem was figuring out what to do first.

Looking past the forest, Puck could see human cottages and even Theseus's palace. Playing tricks on the humans was always fun and chances were good that it would be especially easy since most of them would be tired from Theseus's wedding the day before.

With a sly grin, Puck began racing over the treetops towards the palace. He had some marvelous ideas, but he would let whatever he found first determine where he started. After all, he had a whole day of unrestrained mischief to cause!
