"I would rather die than marry you, Guy of Gisborne. I'm marrying Robin Hood. I love Robin Hood. I LOVE Robin Hood!"

He stopped, shock rooting him to the spot. Her taunting words echoed in his mind and confusion swept over him like a tidal wave. (Robin Hood? She never gave any indication…) His thoughts swirled around, dizzying him. (Behind my back this whole time?) Confusion, however, was quickly replaced by anger. (How could she? With my enemy! All those times she was using me…the sheriff was right! How could she do this to me? ME! How dare she! HOW DARE SHE!) His anger spiraled into a blinding rage and suddenly he was holding her limp body in his arms. Something damp and warm was seeping through his shirt. His rage dissolved as he looked down in horror at the sword that was plunged through her stomach. His sword. The world around him started spinning. (Please…no…no…not this…what have I done? What have I DONE?) Everything went silent as he stared helplessly into her dark eyes, once lively and mischievous, now filled with pain. All he could hear was her gasping ragged breathing. He laid her down gently on the hot, dry sand and staggered away. Robin and his men were running towards them but everyone seemed to be moving in slow shouts seemed so far away. Grief racked his body like a physical, intense pain. (I'm sorry my love. I'm so sorry.) A sharp voice pierced through his fog. (Is that my name? I don't even know anymore.) He glanced around and saw the sheriff riding his direction. He tore his gaze away from her and ran weakly towards the sheriff. His legs felt like they were about to give way beneath him. After what seemed like an eternity, he felt the sheriff grab his arm and help him up onto the horse. As they rode away, he glanced back to catch a final glimpse of her, barely noticing the arrows flying around them. She looked so serene, so peaceful. If he didn't know better she could be sleeping. He tore his gaze away and closed his eyes but all he could see was her eyes staring back at him. Her beautiful, dark pain filled eyes. Pain that he had caused. (She was never mine. Now she never will be. She won't be anybody's ever again.) His stomach lurched and his nausea got the best of him.

That night, they stayed in a small, cramped inn. Loud snoring came from the room next to him but Guy was awake. He didn't know if he could ever sleep again. He dared not close his eyes, because whenever he did he was immediately back on that blood stained sand staring down at the one he loved. Her haunting eyes stared back at his. (Marian…I'm so sorry…) He shook his head to keep himself awake and felt something hot and wet roll down his face. (What is that?) He reached up and wiped it away. (Tears. TEARS.) He was crying. Crying for the first time since he was a little boy. (What am I doing? I'm stronger than this.) He was angry with himself and her. (I destroyed the only thing that was good in my world. But she deserved it. How could I have been so blind? So foolish? She didn't love me. She never loved me.) He forced himself to stop. He was done with tears, done with anger, done with everything. Done. Darkness enveloped him and he felt eerily calm. (Never again. I will never open my heart like that to anyone ever again.)

This is my first fanfic ever! What do you think? I haven't decided if this is a one-shot or if I should write more.
