A/N: This is in honor or Jamie Campbell Bower's birthday (November 22, 2014). Sorry if I made Jace too cocky.

I walked into the room and saw Alec practicing archery. It was the form of fighting he was best at.

"Hey," I said as I grabbed my own bow and arrow, "I bet I could beat you."

Alec shrugged and replied, "You probably could."

I rolled my eyes. He always gave himself such a hard time. The kid was only twelve and had already labelled himself as necessary. Truth be told, if it weren't for his knowledge of herbs and whatnot, I would probably be dead already. Do not dare tell him I said that.

"Well," I started, "we'll never know until we try, right?"

He sighed. I could tell he was going to succumb to my amazing persuasion powers. I know, I am pretty skilled. Who am I kidding? I'm very skilled.

"You're not going to shut up until we fight each other or something, are you?" he questioned.

I nodded grinning. Now we were getting somewhere.

"Okay," he said, "first person to hit that mark wins."

He pointed to the farthest, tiniest little dot ever. Damn, contrary to popular belief, I really wasn't good with all the weapons. The bow and arrow was one of them. Why did I challenge Alec to this again? Well, here we go. Wish me luck. Actually, wish Alec luck. He'll need it more than me.

Five minutes later, I was pinning Alec to the ground and our weapons were all the way across the room. How did we get here again? I'm asking a lot of questions today.

"Jace," Alec commented, "could you please get off of me?"

"I suppose if I must," I replied jumping up very gracefully, if I may say so myself. I may.

He rolled his eyes, again, and got up. He got up gracefully, but not quite as gracefully as I.

"You know what I just remembered?" Alec asked.

I shook my head, "I may seem all knowing, but the one thing I cannot do is read your mind."

He ignored my intelligent comment, "it's been exactly two years since you came to live with us. Today is similar to what our birthdays are."

"Well, we must do something to celebrate this momentous occasion," I exclaimed. I knew exactly what to say, "We should become parabatai."

"What?" he asked shocked, "you mean, like, parabatai?"

I looked at him, perplexed. How could anyone not want to be my parabatai? I'm amazing.

"What time of a reply is that? We're close enough."

He seemed to be doing some calculations in his head. Only Alec would use logic to decide his parabatai. After a couple minutes, he nodded.

"I'm too awesome for you to resist," I said leaving the room. I heard Alec laughing as I left the room.
