Okay, so I know that I'm in the middle of not one, but two stories right now (one of 'em isn't even on FanFiction yet), but this just came to me (thank you, Magical Idea Fairy!) and I had to get it on paper (metaphorically, I'm typing this). So, here it is!
Disclaimer: Me no own AIW. End of story.
"Is it finished, yet?"
"No. Be patient, and keep your eyes closed."
"Tarrant, do I really have to stand here? It's been over an hour."
"Yes."
Tarrant Hightopp was in the middle of making a hat for his beloved Alice. He needed her to stay in his workshop so he could see her, but that last thing he wanted was for her to see it. So, she had been sitting in a chair, in the middle of the room, for the past hour and one half.
He didn't like to hear Alice complain. He wanted her to stay happy with him, forever. Alice had come back to Wonderland a year after the Frabjous Day, on Inecoudus Day. She had said that she closed off all of her connections with Above, so she could stay here forever. Tarrant had been so overjoyed, he had Futterwackened right there and then, a sight that hadn't been seen since Alice left after she slayed the Jabberwocky.
Since then, Alice and the Hatter had grown closer and closer, until finally, on the Quineter Day; they had shared their first kiss.
Now, Tarrant tried to do anything and everything for Alice, whatever the cost. If she wanted something, she would have it. On the Wentlet Day, she had finally allowed him to make her a hat, and it had to be perfectly Alice. This had resulted in the current situation.
"Tarrant! May I please just get up to get us something to eat?" Alice said. She hadn't had anything to eat since lunch, and it was almost brilling.
"Very well, Cricket."
Alice, her hand over her eyes, felt around the room until she found the door and let herself out. She squinted as the bright sun hit her eyes.
I'll just make a small snack and some tea, she decided. She knew, as outrageous as it sounded, Tarrant had a reason for keeping her in the room while he made her hat.
Soon, the snack was ready and she had two cups of tea brewed. She walked over to the workshop, which was located in the backyard of the small house where they lived together in Witzend, and once again closing her eyes, she opened the door.
At the smell of fresh tea, the Hatter sat straight up.
"Have you brought me a cup?" he asked.
"Of course. I couldn't brew tea and not give you some. That would be very slervish of me," she said, handing him the cup. She smiled at her use of Outlandish. Tarrant had been trying to teach her, but most of what she knew was from Tarrant using the words in conversations.
"Alright, Sweetling. Now sit back down and keep your eyes closed," he lisped, leading her to the chair.
They sat in silence for another fifteen minutes, Tarrant working and Alice eating.
Finally, she asked, "How long until it's done?"
"It could be another few minutes, or it could be another few weeks. You can never tell."
Okay! Oneshot splurge done! I'll get back to my stories, now…
