IN THE BEGINNING there was nothing. No one knows how, when, or why, but suddenly, three beings descended from the heavens. These were Din, Farore, and Nayru. Din, the fiery goddess of power, sculpted the earth, called Hyrule. Nayru, the watery goddess of wisdom, then gave law to the earth. Then Farore, the airy goddess of courage, created the vast life that thrived on earth. They then created the Triforce, a fusing of their powers of Power, Wisdom, and Courage. One of Farore's many beings created, was the Hylian. The Hylians were favored above all by the goddesses, though they could easily blend in with the many of the beings. It has been said that of the other beings, Din ruled those of the dry areas, Farore claimed those in the woods and mountains, and Nayru presided over those of the air and sea. But one last race was created, that fit in with none of those. They were a dark, quiet race, called the Sheikah.

As the years went on, sages were designated of these races. Over the ages, it was rumored that these sages knew more than they were telling. It was said that in the beginning, another god was present. This god, a shadowy god, supposedly kept the peace between the goddesses whenever an argument came up between them. However, the sages thought that knowledge of this would be problematic and possibly lead to rebellion. They had, of course, seen the evils that arose to set out for the Triforce of Power.

But it has been also heard that the powers of this god could be released if it was needed to bring peace back between the goddesses.
