Friendship is Magic: Part One
Once upon a time, in the magical land of Disney, there were two regal sisters who ruled together, and created harmony for all the land. To do this, the youngest used her magical powers to raise the sun at dawn; the oldest brought out the moon to begin the night. Thus, the two sisters maintained balance for their kingdom and their subjects. But as time went on, the older sister became resentful. The people relished and played in the day her younger sister brought forth, but shunned and slept through her beautiful night. One fateful day, the older sister refused to lower the moon to make way for the dawn. The younger sister tried to reason with her, but the bitterness in the elder one's heart had transformed her into an icy witch of darkness: The Snow Queen. She vowed that she would shroud the land in an eternal, wintery night. Reluctantly, the younger sister harnessed the most powerful magic known to their: the Elements of the Princesses. Using the magic of the Elements of the Princesses, she defeated her older sister, and banished her permanently in the moon. The younger sister took on responsibility for both the sun and moon, and harmony has been maintained in Disney for generations since.
The book slammed loudly. The careful hands holding it caressed the book gently to her chest as she pondered what she had just read. This girl was about seventeen. She has long, brown hair that was tied back in a low ponytail, and possessed captivating hazel eyes, full lips, rosy cheeks, and a sculpted figure. One of her more distinct features were the strands of hair that are constantly slipping loose from her ponytail and falling in front of her face. She wore a blue dress with a white undershirt and apron. She also wore dark brown flats.
"Hmm…" she hummed to herself, "Elements of the Princesses… I know I've heard of those before... but where?" The girl looked up at the sky in a moment of thought before starting her walk back to the library for which she loved so dearly.
The girl walked back along the dirt path, reading the story of the two sisters again, trying to remember where she had heard of the Elements of the Princesses before. Along the way, she passed by three of her peers.
"There you are Belle!" said one of them. The girl, Belle, stopped and turned to the three. "Paula us have a party in the west castle courtyard. Wanna come?" Belle looked down at her book and shook her head.
"Sorry girls," said Belle, taking a few footsteps in the library's direction. "I've got studying to catch up on. Maybe next time?" The girls didn't respond, and Belle continued on her walk. She heard the girls, however, talk loudly about how she was always reading and never had time for any friends.
Belle raced to the library, up a few flights of steps, and into the tall tower where her favorite spot in the castle was located. She pushed the golden doors to the library open, unknowingly knocking someone onto the floor in the process.
"Chip!" Belle called out, looking around the library, "Chip! Chip!" She heard a groan, causing her to turn her head. On the floor was her assistant. Belle smiled and helped the boy to his feet.
Chip was a small and slender little boy with dirty blonde hair, blue eyes and chipped tooth. His mother was one of the castle's servants. Chip had meet Belle when the girl had just arrived at the palace, and had begun to idolize her for a strange reason. Since then, he had become Belle's assistant and one of the only people she considered a friend, other than Anna.
"There you are," said Belle as the boy dusted himself off. "I need you to find me that old copy of Predictions and Prophecies. Can you do that?" Chip nodded and ran off to find the book. Belle put the book she did have in her hands on a nearby table and followed him.
"It's over here!" shouted Chip. Belle ran over and helped him lower the large book onto the table nearby. Belle flipped through the pages.
"Elements...elements…" she muttered, "Where is it? … Aha! Elements of the Princesses… see the Queen of the Moon?" Belle exchanged a confused glance with the boy next to her.
"The Queen of the Moon?" Chip repeated, "Isn't that just an old story?" Belle shrugged and turned to the directed page.
"The Queen of the Moon, a myth from olden times," she read, "A powerful witch who wanted to rule Disney, defeated by the Elements of the Princesses and imprisoned in the moon. Legend has it that on the longest day of the thousandth year, the stars will aid in her escape, and she'll bring about an enteral wintery night!" Belle gasped silently as she looked over at Chip. "Do you know what this means?" Chip stared at the girl blankly.
"No," he said. Belle rolled her hazel eyes and slid a piece of paper over to Chip. He picked up a pen immediately.
"I want you to write a letter to Anna," said Belle. She shut the book on the table.
"Alright then." Belle cleared her throat.
"Anna," Belle recited, "My continuing studies of magic have led me to discover we are on the precipice of disaster!"
"Hold on. Preci... preci…" Belle slid the book back on it's shelf.
"Threshold." Chip stared at her. "Uh...brink?" Chip blinked, causing Belle to sigh. "It means something really bad is about to happen." Chip nodded and continued writing. "You see, the mythical Queen in the Moon is in fact the Snow Queen, and she's about to return to Disney, bringing with her both eternal winter and enteral night! I believe that something must be done to make sure that this terrible prophecy does not comes true. I await your decision. Your faithful ally, Belle."
"Got it!" said Chip setting the pen down. Belle walked over with a smile.
"Good," she said. "I want you to send it."
"Now?"
"Yes…"
"I don't know Belle…" Chip said as he rolled up the letter. "The day after tomorrow is the thousandth year of the Summer Sun Celebration. The Princess is getting ready for it."
"That's just it," replied Belle as she paced across the library, "The day after tomorrow is the thousandth year of the Summer Sun Celebration! It is important that Anna is told right away!" Chip nodded and went to a nearby open window. He whistled, and a bird flew to the window. He tied the letter around the bird's ankle before it flew off. Chip turned back to Belle, who was still pacing.
"It's on it's way," said the boy, "But I wouldn't count on the Princess doing anything about it…"
"I'm not worried," said Belle. "Anna trusts me completely. In all the years I have known her, she has never once doubted me!" Belle smiled as soon as she heard the tapping of the window. The messenger flew into Chip's hands with another letter tied around it's foot.
"I knew she would want to take immediate action!" Chip untied the letter and unrolled.
"My dearest and most faithful friend, Belle," the boy read aloud while a victorious smile crossed Belle's face. "You know I value your hard work and that I trust you completely."
"See? I told you that Anna trusts me."
"But you have to stop reading those dusty old books all the time!" Belle's jaw gaped open at the last sentence in amazement that Anna would even say that.
Belle sat in the carriage, with Chip sitting across from her. She wasn't happy with the current situation.
"Belle, there is more to a young girl's life than just reading," Chip read aloud from the list of assignments the pair had been given. "So I'm sending you to supervise the preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration in this year's location, the Magic Kingdom. Make this one good! It's my first one, and I trust you that you'll make it special! Oh, I almost forgot! I have an even more important task for you. Make some friends!" Belle leaned her head against the window, and sighed softly in frustration. "Look on the bright side, Belle. The Princess arranged for you to stay in the library. Does that make you happy?" Belle perked up at the mention of her favorite place in the world. She smiled and sat up straight.
"Yes, yes it does. You know why?" she said confidently. Chip shook his head. "Because I am right. We'll check on the preparations as fast as we can, then we'll get to the library to find some proof of the Snow Queen's return!"
"Then when will you make friends like the Princess asked you to?"
"She said to check on the preparations. I will do my royal duty, but the fate of Disney does not rest on me making friends!" The carriage came to a stop and both Belle and Chip climbed out. Belle thanked the driver as it drove away. Chip tugged on Belle's sleeve.
"Please Belle?" he asked, "Just try!" Belle sighed and looked straight ahead. There was a girl skipping towards them. She looked to about eighteen years old. She had fair skin, and her golden blonde hair which had to be very long, considering it was thickly braided and still fell to the ground. Her hair was noticeably shiny, like satin. The girl also had light freckles, mostly around her nose, as well as large, bright green eyes, and a playful smile. Her dress consisted of a lavender corset top laced with a pink ribbon. The skirt was purple and decorated with swirl designs, in pink, dark purple and white. The skirt's hemline was above her ankles, but well below her calves. Her sleeves, at the top, are puffed and striped, pink and lavender, and the rest, is a pale, baby pink, with white lace at the end. The girl did not wear shoes, which both Belle and Chip found rather strange, but it was any good a place to start.
"Hello?" said Belle to the girl. She stopped for a minute before gasping in surprise. She raced off in the other direction, leaving both the boy and brunette confused. "Well, that was interesting alright…" Belle walked off in the direction of the pair's first stop, with Chip sighing before following her.
The pair walked down the the edge of town, near the docks. They arrived at what looked like a large mill. However, it was decorated as if it were a palace. Green light spelled out words on the front.
"Summer Sun Celebration Official Supervisor Checklist!" Chip said cheerily. Belle pushed open the door, allowing her and her assistant inside. They were immediately hit by the beautiful interior, as well as the cool air of freshly baked goods. Belle could hear someone humming from the kitchen.
"Let's get this over with…" Belle muttered as she entered to kitchen. At the stove, there was a girl. She was tall and slender with a sculpted figure, dark skin, with medium-length, wavy, black hair tied in a low ponytail and light brown eyes. She wore a yellow dress over a white shirt, a white apron, with brown shoes. Belle put on a smile and walked over to her.
"Good afternoon," she said politely, causing the woman to turn to her. "My name is Belle-"
"How do you do, Miss Belle?" said the woman in a smooth southern accent, "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, but I'm afraid the restaurant is closed for the Summer Sun Celebration."
"Actually, my assistant and I are here to check on the preparations for the Celebration. Princess Anna sent us personally." The woman stopped her cooking and leaned on the counter that stood between her, Belle and Chip.
"I was told you would be coming by." She extended her hand. "I'm Tiana."
"I was told you're in charge of food?" Tiana nodded before going back to her work.
"Yes, me and my staff." Belle looked around the kitchen. The only two people in there were her and Tiana.
"Where is your staff?" Belle asked.
"I sent them to pick up more ingredients for the food. I take pride in my work, Miss Belle. I am the best chef in the Magic Kingdom. Would you care to try some?" Belle nodded.
"As long as it doesn't take too long. I do have to check on the rest of the preparations." Tiana nodded.
About an hour later, Belle and Chip left the restaurant, both agreeing that Tiana had earned her title of being the best chef in the Magic Kingdom.
"The food is taken care of," said Chip as he read off the list, "The next thing is weather." Belle raised an eyebrow.
"Weather?" she repeated. Chip nodded and showed her the list. Plain as day, in Anna's handwriting, was weather. Belle laughed. "She really must want this to go well. Who's in charge of it?"
"A person named Esmeralda. She's supposed to be clearing the clouds." Belle looked up and sees several clouds still in the sky.
"She isn't doing a very good job, is she?" Then, suddenly and with no warning, something-or someone-knocked Belle into a mud puddle, splashing her clothing and hair.
Belle groaned softly, before being pulled immediately back up by whoever knocked her down. It was a woman. She had tan skin, raven-black hair, and striking emerald green eyes. Her hair was tied back with a pink ribbon. She wore a white top with a teal and gold bodice, along with a purple sarong and light purple skirt. She was barefoot, and had a golden hoop earring on her left ear, a golden bangle on her left wrist, and matching bracelet and anklet on both her right hand and right ankle.
"Uh….excuse me?" said the woman, laughing uncomfortably. Belle groaned again, wiping the mud from her skirt. "Let me help you." The woman pulled a handkerchief from her shirt and handed it to Belle, who used it to get the mud off of her face.
"I may be taking a guess here," said Belle as she gave to woman back her handkerchief, "But are you Esmeralda?" The woman gave Belle a mock bow.
"The one and only!" said Esmeralda proudly before snapping up. "Why? Have you heard of me?"
"I heard that you were the one who was in charge of the weather for the Summer Sun Celebration." Belle sighed and then smiled. "I'm Belle, and Anna...I mean the Princess, sent me to check on the preparations." Esmeralda looked up, shielding her eyes from the sun, at the clouds.
"That'll be a snap," she said. "I'll do that in a bit. Just as soon as I'm done practicing."
"Practicing? For what?"
"The Gypsies." Belle and Chip exchanged glances. "They're gonna perform at the Celebration tomorrow. And I'm gonna show them what I can do." Belle put on a clever smile. Maybe there was a way to clear the clouds...and to understand how Esmeralda did it.
"The Gypsies?" she said. Esmeralda nodded, picking up a discarded tambourine off of the ground. "The most talented performers in Disney?"
"That's them. I've wanted to be a dancer with them ever since I first saw them perform."
"They'd never accept someone who can't even keep the sky clear for one measly day... however that's done." Esmeralda snapped to stand up straight, turning to face Belle. Her eyebrows were narrowed.
"I could clear this sky in ten seconds flat."
"Prove it." The woman stared at Belle for a moment. She smirked and shook her tambourine before springing into action. Esmeralda, to both Belle's and Chip's surprise, began to dance. She looked like she was dancing on air. As Esmeralda moved, the clouds began to circle until they formed a massive cloud. Esmeralda finished off her dance by spreading her arms out wide, which dispersed the cloud. She did all of this in under ten seconds. The onlookers' jaws dropped as Esmeralda laughed.
"What did I say? Ten seconds flat. I would never leave the Magic Kingdom hanging." Neither Belle or Chip said anything, causing Esmeralda to laugh again. "You're a laugh, Belle. I can't wait to hang out sometime." That last sentence kicked started Belle's brain back into gear and threw a shock into her, but Esmeralda walked away before she can say anything.
"She's amazing!" said Chip. Belle sighed.
"Yeah...that does explain how she is able to clear the weather. Anyway, can we just continue? I want to get finished as fast as possible." Chip nodded and the pair walked to their next destination.
Belle and Chip walked into three-story tower or pavilion, with a porch at ground level and a balcony outside each upper story. The structure stood in a large open area, the town square to be exact. Belle pushed open the double doors, allowing her assistant in first. She looked around the pavilion. It was beautifully decorated with flowers and banners, as well as the crest of Anna's family-a beautiful, golden crocus flower.
"Beautiful…" Chip muttered. Belle nodded as she observed the decorations.
"Yes, the decor is coming along wonderfully," she said in agreement. "This should be quick."
"Not the decorations, her!" Belle turned her head to see the only other person in the room. It was a girl about sixteen years of age. She was decorating a nearby pillar. The girl was a beautiful young woman, with curly and wavy waist-length golden hair like sunshine, violet eyes, a tall and slender figure, and lips that shamed the red rose. Her complexion was fair and flawless, and her face was less rounded and more refined, giving her an appearance of maturity despite her young age. She wore a gray skirt, a black bodice over a light gray blouse with long sleeves and wore black flats, which were discarded on the floor. She also had a black headband.
"No...no...no…" the stranger muttered as she used magic to sort out ribbons in front of her. Each denied one was discarded on the floor. "Goodness no!" Belle sighed and approached her.
"Good afternoon," she said to the blonde. The girl held up her finger, indicating that Belle pause for a moment.
"Just a moment! I'm 'in the zone' as it were." She gasped and smiled at the last ribbon. She took it and wrapped it around the pillar, before tying it off with a perfect bow. "Ah, yes. This color always works best. Aurora, you are a talent! Now, how can I help you-" The girl, who identified herself as Aurora, turned to face Belle, giving a little yelp. "Oh my stars! Whatever happened to your…"
"My what?" Aurora pulled up one of her blonde curls. Belle did the same thing with her brown ponytail, only to find it caked with mud. She laughed a little bit. "Oh. I fell outside in the mud. I'm just here to check on the decorations, and then I'll be out of your hair!"
"Out of my hair? What about your hair?" Aurora took Belle by the hand, and grabbed her shoes up off the floor. "Come with me."
"Where are we going?" Belle asked as Aurora dragged her along, Chip following them. "Help!"
Aurora led the pair to a two-story building that had the appearance of a woodcutter's , it was built into a tree. Belle was rushed inside. Aurora cleaned all the muck out of her brown locks, and was currently getting all of the knots out of it.
"Go on, my dear," said Aurora as she ran the brush through Belle's hair, "You were telling me where you're from."
"I was sent from Camelot to-" Aurora dropped the brush. "Are you alright?"
"Camelot?!" The blonde said in surprise, "Oh, I am so envious! The glamor, the sophistication! I have always dreamed of living there! I can't wait to hear all about it! We are gonna be the best of friends, you and I…" Belle immediately stood up, picking up her blue hair ribbon along the way.
"I would love to, Aurora," she said, "But Chip and I really have to finish checking up on the preparations. Goodbye!" Belle and Chip left without another word.
"Wasn't she pretty, Belle?" Chip asked as the duo walked to their next stop. Belle laughed.
"She was, but we need to focus," she said. "What's the next thing on the list?"
"Oh! Uh…" Chip pulled the list out of his pocket. "Music! It's the last one on the list." Belle grinned, having their task almost be finished. She suddenly stopped short upon hearing a fanfare being whistled somewhere up ahead, followed by a voice's beautiful melody. Belle and Chip, afraid that they might frighten whoever was conducting it, hid in some bushes and poked their heads out to watch. In front of them were several birds perched in a tree, with a fourteen year old girl conducting and singing with them. She had lips red as a rose, hair black as ebony, and skin white as snow, which described her most notable features, being her rosy red lips and rosy cheeks, and both her hair and skin color. Being fairly short in height, the girl also had a rather slender, flat-chested figure and dainty little feet. Her dress had a dark blue bodice with a high white collar; her short puffy sleeves were a lighter blue color than her bodice and the red cloth poking through exemplify the "slashing" design, lining the sleeves in vertical stripes. Her long, shapeless skirt flowed down just past her ankles and was a light yellow. She has a white petticoat underneath and tan shoes with yellow bows on them. Her black hair was cut short, styled in a bob and parted in the middle. She wore a red headband with a bow.
The girl winced and stopped her singing as one of the birds fell out of tune with the others. She walked up closer to them.
"Stop please, everyone," she said in a soft and sweet voice. She held out a finger, allowing the off-key bird to perch on her finger. "Excuse me, sir? I mean, no offense, but your rhythm is just a teeny-tiny bit off." The bird nodded and flew back to it's perch. The girl raised her hands to resume her conducting. "Now, follow me, please. A-one, a-two, a-one two three-" Belle smiled and emerged from the bushes, walking towards the girl.
"Hello," she said, louder than she meant. Belle's shout startled not only the conductor-who yelped-but also frightened off the birds. The girl blushed a bright red when she saw Belle. "I am so sorry, I didn't mean to frighten your birds away. I'm just here to check up on the music, and both it and you sounded beautiful." The girl didn't speak. "I'm Belle…" … "What's your name?"
"Um…" the girl muttered softly, "I'm...Snow…." She muttered off the rest of her name.
"I'm sorry, what was that?"
"I'm…" She muttered her name again.
"I didn't hear you…" The girl squeaked and tensed up. Belle laughed nervously as the birds returned to their perch. "It looks like your birds are back, so I guess everything is in order. Keep up the great work!" The girl squeaked again. Belle took a step back to the bush. "Okay…" She turned to Chip, who had come out of the bushes. "Well that was easy…"
"He's so cute…" Belle heard a soft voice say. She turned to see the conductor of the birds walking towards them. She was no longer blushing.
"Thank you, miss," Chip said out of politeness.
"He's so kind, too…" The girl crouched down so she was eye-level with Chip. "It's much easier to talk to children than the other people around here."
"I'm sorry to interrupt," said Belle, putting her hands on Chip's shoulders, "But my assistant and I really need to be going." She began to lead Chip away, but the girl followed them both.
"Wait, wait! What's his name?" she asked.
"I'm Chip," Belle's assistant replied.
"Hi Chip, I'm Snow White. I can't believe I'm acting like this. I'm usually so shy. There aren't many children close to my age around here. I have no one to talk to really…"
"I know how you feel…" Belle muttered under her breath.
"You could talk to me if you want," said Chip. "What do you want to know?"
"Absolutely everything." Belle groaned. This was going to be a long walk home.
"...and that's the story of my whole entire life up until today," said Chip as the trio approached the town's library, where he and Belle would be staying. Do you wanna hear about today?"
"Oh, yes, please!" Snow White said excitedly. Belle sighed as she walked up to the library's door.
"I'm so sorry, how did we get here so fast?" said Belle as she turned to the black-haired girl. "We're staying in the library while we're here, and I'm afraid Chip needs to get his rest."
"No, I don't…" said the boy with a small yawn. Belle laughed.
"It was nice meeting you." Before Snow White could say another word, Belle shut the door.
The library was dark and quiet, seeing as night had fallen. Belle could barely even see in the dark.
"That was pretty rude, Belle," said Chip. Belle sighed.
"I'm sorry, Chip," she replied. "But I have to convince Anna that the Snow Queen is coming, and we're running out of time! I need to be alone so I can study without a bunch of people bothering me. Where's the light?" Belle felt the wall beside her until she found the light switch. She flicked it on.
"SURPRISE!"
Confetti rained down on the pair, as Belle rubbed her eyes from the surprise light. She blinked her hazel orbs several times before seeing the crowd of partygoers in the library.
"Surprise!" said one of the crowd members. Belle recognized her as the girl she had first spoke to when she had arrived in the Magic Kingdom. "Hi, I'm Rapunzel and I threw this party just for you! Were you surprised?"
"Very surprised," said Belle, clearing out the ringing in her ears. "Um...aren't libraries supposed to be quiet?"
"Well, that's silly! What kind of welcome party would it be if it were quiet? I mean, duh, bo-ring! Y'see, I saw you when you first got here, remember? You were all 'hello' and I was all-" Rapunzel gasped- "remember? I've never saw you before and if I've never saw you before that means you're new, 'cause I know everybody, and I mean everybody in the Magic Kingdom!" Belle groaned and walked over to the refreshment table, feeling light-headed from the days events. "And if you're new, that meant you haven't met anyone yet, and if you haven't met anyone yet, you must not have any friends, and if you don't have any friends then you must be lonely, and that made me so sad, then I had an idea, and that's why I gasped!" Belle nodded, not really listening, and grabbed a drink from the table, downing it in one drink. "I must throw a great big enormous super-duper spectacular welcome party and invite everyone in the Magic Kingdom! See? And now you have lots and lots of friends!" Belle turned and saw the other girls she had met earlier around her. She choked on what she was drinking, spitting it out on the last sentence. Tiana put a hand on the girl's back.
"Are you alright?" she asked. Belle nodded.
"I have to go…" said the brunette before running out of the room.
Belle ran into the room that had been outfitted for her. There were bookshelves lining one wall, but the rest of the space had been cleared to make room for a bed, a house plant, a small floor mat, and a table by the window with red rose in it. A telescope stood at the window. Part of the floor-level section had more bookshelves, a desk, and the entrance to a staircase leading down. This living space, therefore, was on a higher level than the main reading room and where Belle was.
Belle was on the bed, huddled on top of the blankets with her head under the pillow, and the lights were dimmed up there. However, Belle could still hear the muffled, pounding dance music from below, meaning that the party is still going. She lifted her head, pillow and all, and takes note of the insanely late hour with a groan. She heard the door opening.
"Hey, Belle! Rapunzel's starting up the games! Wanna play?" she heard Chip ask.
"Not really," Belle sighed, sitting up. "I just want to be left alone. And you should be asleep."
"But it's the eve of the Summer Sun Celebration," Chip reminded her, climbing up to where she was. "Everyone has to stay up, or they'll miss the Princess raise the Sun for the first time!" Belle didn't answer. She heard a sigh, fleeting footsteps and the door shutting. Belle stood up and looked out the window.
"I'd thought I would have more time to learn about the Elements of the Princesses…" she sighed to herself. "Silly me. Everyone here is trying to make friends, and I can't get anything done." She sighed again and looked up at the moon. The words from the story played back in her mind. "Legend has it on the longest day of the thousandth year, the stars will aid in her escape, and she will bring about an enteral wintery night!" Belle's eyes filled with worry as she looked at the moon. "I hope Anna was right...I hope it is just an old tale…"
"Belle! It's time to watch the Princess raise the sun!"
All of the partygoers-and Belle- left the library and flocked to the pavilion. It was packed to the brim. Belle and Chip made their way to the front row, hoping to see Anna. Belle recalled how excited she had sounded in her letter, and prayed that the legend was wrong. Suddenly, Rapunzel appeared out of nowhere.
"Isn't this exciting?" she said happily, "Are you excited, because I'm excited. I've never been so excited, well, except for when I first saw you walking into town, but I mean really, who can top that?" Belle laughed silently at Rapunzel's attitude. Before she could get a word in-most likely to apologize for what happened at the party- a fanfare erupted and a spotlight picked out the vacant balcony and descends to the platform on the floor. There stood a woman. She held a regal presence to her. She bore a striking resemblance to Rapunzel; near identical, bright green eyes, with similar face features. She had brown hair that almost reached her waist, and the upper layer was tied back neatly in a sort of hair updo. Unlike most of the people of the Magic Kingdom, this woman dressed as if she were in business.
Belle looked over at Rapunzel and the woman. She raised an eyebrow.
"Rapunzel…?" she asked. The blonde hummed in response. "Are you...related to that woman by any chance?" Rapunzel nodded.
"She's my mother." Belle seemed stunned by the statement, but turned her attention to the woman on the platform.
"Ladies and gentlemen, as mayor of the Magic Kingdom, it is my great pleasure to announce the beginning of the Summer Sun Celebration!" the woman announced. The crowd cheered. "In just a few moments, our town will witness the magic of the sunrise, and celebrate this, the longest day of the year! And now, it is my great honor to introduce to you the ruler of our land, the very pony who gives us the sun and the moon each and every day, the good, the wise, the bringer of harmony to all of Disney…" Belle's eyes darted upwards to a window. Her eyes fell upon the moon. However, the hazel orbs widened as the stunned brunette saw four stars drifting towards the moon's perimeter. The silhouette Belle had been seeing for three years vanished, causing her to tense up. She put a hand over her heart.
"...Princess Anna!" Belle's eyes dashed up to the balcony as the curtains parted. She, along with everyone else, gasped. The balcony was empty. Anna wasn't there.
"This can't be good…" Belle said, her voice wavering with fear.
"Remain calm, everybody," said the Mayor, "There must be a reasonable explanation behind this!"
"Ooh, ooh, I love guessing games!" Rapunzel said, "Is she hiding?"
"She's gone!" announced Aurora, who had been the one to part the curtains. The crowd gasped.
"Ooh, she's good…" Rapunzel then screamed and hid behind Belle. Clouds of dark blue flurry began to envelop the balcony as another gasp rose from ground level.
"Oh, no…" Belle muttered. The thickening clouds swept away, revealing the villain behind it. It was a sinister woman with spiky black hair, am angular body and malicious smile. She was also wearing a dark blue set of armor that was made out of what seemed to be ice.
"The Snow Queen!" Belle felt Chip cling onto her leg. The Snow Queen let out a malicious laugh.
"My beloved subjects," she said darkly. "It's been a while since I've seen your precious little, warmth loving faces!"
"What did you do to our princess?!" Belle heard Esmeralda snap. She caught the dancer trying to go at the Snow Queen from the corner of her eye. Tiana was holding her back.
"Calm down there, darling!" said the chef. The Snow Queen laughed.
"Why, am I not royal enough for you?" she said, "Do you not remember who I am?"
"Ooh, ooh, more guessing games!" Rapunzel said out of excitement. "Um, Hokey Smokes! How about... Queen Meanie! No! Black Snooty, Black Snooty-" Tiana covered Rapunzel's mouth in addition to hold Esmeralda back.
"Does my crown no longer count now that I have been imprisoned for only three years? Did you not recall the legend?! Did you not see the signs?!" Belle stepped forward.
"I did!" she exclaimed. "And I know who you are.o the Queen in the Moon. You're the Snow Queen!" Several people gasped.
"Well, it looks like somebody does remember me. Then I guess you also know why I'm here."
"You're here to...to.." Belle swallowed the bile rising in her throat. The Snow Queen laughed again.
Remember this day, for it was your last. From this moment forth, the night will last forever!" The Snow Queen raised her arms in malicious laughter as frost covered the windows. Belle's face became that of fear and terror as she picked her terrified assistant off of the ground. He buried his head in her shoulder, and she did the same. Not being able to watch the scene unfold.
