A/N: Yay for new Layton stories! Especially ones involving Luke and Flora. :U They're so cute. This is going to be a multi-chapter story, but it's going to be short. I'm sorry the first chapter itself is short! It gets better. :) Hope you enjoy it!

Edit; I added some more to this chapter after I published it, so if you already read it, there's a bit more to the story now!

It was true that when Luke had moved to America he had the full intentions of coming back to see his beloved friends. He couldn't just leave them behind in the dust; That's quite unbecoming of a gentleman, and Luke prided himself on being the best gentleman he could possibly be. He wasn't exactly sure when he would return, but he knew it had to be soon.

Exchanging letters was an unspoken agreement between Flora and him. Luke had the bright idea of sending her a letter after seeing how much he truly missed the girl. The very day he sent the letter, he received one from Flora. The exchange went on for a long while, until one day Luke stopped replying. He didn't reply for weeks, worrying Flora.

Flora's POV

"How long has it been now, Professor?" I asked. It felt like it had been years, but I know it couldn't have been more than at least two or three weeks. Worrying was one of things I was known for—well, to Luke anyways.

The professor took a glance over at his calendar—another unwanted advance made upon him from the determined Rosetta. This time her approach was to shower him with gifts. Why she chose a calendar, I'll never know. It is kind of cute, though. It has dinosaur bones all over it. The professor was quite flustered when he received it, which was to be expected, given Rosetta's behavior.

"Only three weeks, dear. You needn't worry. I'm sure he'll write soon." He gave me a smile, but I was hardly convinced. It's been five years since Luke left, and after knowing him for about three, I knew something was up. I would've gotten a reply by now. It usually takes five days for a letter from him to arrive; On a busy day it was a week.

"I'm just worried that something's happened to Luke, Professor. You know he would have replied now." I say, beginning to squirm uncomfortably. What if something did happen to Luke?

"Trust me, Flora; He's fine." The professor shot me a wide grin, casting instant suspicions. What in the name of Dropstone was going on?

"If you say so…Should I write him again?"

"Come on now, don't badger the boy. Maybe he sent you a big package and that's why it took so long? Did you ever think of that?"

Blast…he's got me, there, I think. The thought never even crossed my mind. Even if that was the case, why would it take three weeks?

Ding dong! Ding!

"Could you get that, dear? I've got to put some of my books away. My study is becoming rather messy these days."

I nodded and made my way to the door. Who could it be at nearly five o'clock in the daytime?

When I opened the door, the first thing I noticed was a large box sitting at the doorstep. What in the— "Thank you, sir. Who is this for?"

The postman grinned at me, ignoring my question and replying with, "Special delivery from Luke Triton."

My face began to redden. The professor was right. How did he even know?

"Thanks again," I mutter, waving at the postman.

"Of course! I hope you enjoy it, young lady." The postman answered with a wink. He began to walk away, chuckling softly to himself.

Luke Triton, what in the world have you sent me?

That was when I noticed some heavy breathing from the box. And then a raspy,

"Hey, can you let me out now? It's getting stuffy in here."
