Harry sighed. His search for the missing part of his mother's letter was fruitless. He gazed around the room once more and his eyes fell on the nearby motorbike manual. His heart soared with hope once more when he saw a piece of paper sticking out. He grabbed the manual and pulled out the paper. He frowned when he saw that the writing wasn't the same. However, he looked up at the top of the paper and saw his name. It said "Dear Harry". It was a letter to him! Filled with intrigue, he read on.

Dear Harry,

Son, if you are reading this, it means that your mother and I are gone. Hopefully Sirius gave you this when we told him to, so you understand what happened. We died because we loved you so much, Harry. We wanted you to have a better life. The only thing I regret is not being able to see you grow up into a fine young man, which I'm sure you are.

Hopefully Hogwarts is going well. I have a feeling that you're going to find out all the secret passages. Your mother and I were in Gryffindor, but I'm sure you already know that. If you're in Gryffindor, too, congratulations! If you're not, I still congratulate you. I know you'll make your mom and me proud no matter what you do. I'm sure you're on the Quidditch team, since your were always zooming around the house on the toy broomstick Sirius bought you for your first birthday. You had a real knack for flying! I remember you almost killed Mom's cat, Caroline, multiple times. We always had a good laugh about that.

Harry, there are so many stories I could tell you. I could tell you how you almost bit Remus's finger off when you were 7 months old. I could tell you how one day when you couldn't fall asleep Sirius wanted to ride you around in his motorbike's sidecar. But the thing I really want to tell you is that I love you. The best days of my life, no kidding, were the days when we would play together. Yes, I loved those days even more than sneaking around Hogwarts with Sirius and Remus. You were a great baby, always smiling and laughing. That made your mother and I laugh and smile, too. Always remember that we're watching over you, and even if things get tough, know we're always pulling for you.

Love,

Dad
