Disclaimer: I do not own Lord of the Rings and unless I enter an alternate reality, I very much doubt that I ever will.
Summery: Arwen's thoughts as she rides back to Rivendell after her vision in the movie verse 'Return of the King'. Poetry format.

The Choice.

My father tells me to go,
Yet my heart says to stay,
Shall I suffer certain woe?
Or sail for shores far away?

I once faltered with my destiny,
I was to leave with my kind.
But then discarded eternity,
I could not leave my love behind.

I traveled with the last,
But then I saw my son.
Future, present or past,
I leave and Sauron has won.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring,
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

I will stay at his side as his wife,
The life of a mortal will be mine.
There is death, but also joyful life,
I stay with Aragorn for all of time.

I know that my family will mourn,
And I know that I shall grieve.
But after night comes the dawn,
And I abide by what I believe.
