Author's note: Oh yeah, just so you know, this story is about Kovu and Kiara after the chasing of the birds with Timon and Pumbaa. Only in this situation Kovu and Kiara are humans.

Enjoy!

Without anyone's eyes on her, Kiara felt free. There was no one, absolutely no one who can control who she was or what she would do. Skipping ahead of Kovu, she spread out her arms and felt the wind blow against her, her clothes fluttering around her legs, the necklaces rattled around her neck. Her eyes closed and she laughed loudly. She felt no care, none at all.

Kovu on the other hand, stood silent and still behind her, his arms at his side, tense. His green eyes were focused on the strange princess in front of him. He never understood this girl, even when they were children. She always had this sense of wonder, of amazement, of innocence that he never had. He was always taught that these things were weaknesses, liabilities. And yet, whenever he looked at her, this strange feeling rises from the bottom of his stomach and floats around, like butterflies. He never seen one before, but he had heard of them. Tiny, delicate, fluttering animals that flies about in circles.

Whatever the feeling was, he had to banish it for the sake of his mission.

"Come on Kovu!" Kiara laughed as she turned her head towards him.

"I don't get it."

"Spread out your arms!" She walked towards him and then held out his arms. "Like this!"

"Why?"

"'Cuase it's fun!" Laughing at him again, she spread out his arms and stood besides him, spreading her arms out as well. "C'mon Kovu!"

Staring at her carefree eyes, he gave her a small and shy smile. Perhaps, he can forget about his mission for a while.

Maybe… just maybe.
