Reimu sighed, frustrated beyond belief. There was always something, always evil spirit geysers or eternal winters or just someone trying to take over her shrine, but she always knew how to handle it. Just fly in blasting everything that gets in her way, find the culprit, smash them with her Yin Yang Orbs, and maybe have tea with them to smooth things over.
But this time it was personal. Her gohei and Orbs weren't following her orders, as though they'd gained a life of their own. For all she knew they might actually be alive, but at least they did their job in the past. Now? They just moved about on their own, and there was nothing she could do to stop them.
She knew something had to be causing these items to act up, since it wasn't just her problem. This was happening all over Gensokyo, not to mention the youkai rampaging out of control. As much as she wished otherwise, her Orbs and gohei certainly wouldn't be much help in this incident. So she prepared her spell cards, which thankfully were unaffected by what was going on, and was about to set off. She took one last look at her shrine, and her old weapons. They seemed to be watching her.
"You be good now, ok? Don't go wondering out of the shrine."
She couldn't be sure they would listen to her, or even heard her, but this was all she could do. Hope for the best.
The second Reimu had left, a ominous laugh echoed through the shrine. Mima appeared at the shrine's entrance, staring at the Orbs enviously.
"Heheh, it seems Reimu is gone, and now nothing can stop me from taking the Hakurei Yin-Yang Orbs! Soon their power, and the world, will be mine!" She indulged herself in another laugh, before reaching for the items she so dearly desired. The Orbs floated out of reach. "What the- since when could they-" Then they flew straight at Mima's face, giving her two black eyes. "…As soon as I can see, you're going to regret that." The evil spirit floated off, cursing to herself. "Maybe Marisa can help with this…"
Marisa couldn't help, having problems of her own. Her Mini-Hakkero was acting up, shooting blasts of fire in all directions.
"Look, Mima-sama, I'd love to help but-" Then the Hakkero deliberately pointed itself at Mima. A giant blaze burst forth, wiping out a huge swath of trees. "M-mima, are you ok?"
Mima coughed and wiped the soot off her dress.
"You know what, Marisa? I think I'm just gonna go home, wait for all this to end…" She left, not even waiting for Marisa to tell her her hair was on fire.
