Note: Intially, I wanted to title this "Death Sucks' but... XD I decided not to. This is just a quick thing I wrote when I was bored. Yeah. Sorry about the angst-iness and how confusing it is. At least, I hope it wasn't. I also apologize for the unbeta-ness and the short length.

Disclaimer: I do not own Katekyo Hitman Reborn.

Dying Will

His breathing becomes ragged as blood pours out. It is sticky, wet, sweet. He can barely taste the usual metallic liquid like when he was lucid but he doesn't care. He's lying on the cold, cracked floor, with only one thought racing through his mind:

ESCAPE. ESCAPE. ESCAPE. ESCAPE.

He tries to look for escape routes, a way out as the fore bringer of hell struts slowly up to him, next to his withering, cruel body. He can barely hear the taunts – a double-edged sword. If he could hear, it meant he could still move pretty well yet it also could have affected his mind (not that he would ever let THAT happen) and if he couldn't, it meant he wouldn't be able to hear the words, taunts laced with malice but that he is too weak to move.

He has to move. MUST. But he cannot even move his fingers. His eyelids feel heavy. He wants to sleep, to rest, never wake again. He has never been in such a vulnerable position such as this. Only once has he been utterly defeated. But the victor had expressed mercy.

Look at what he has done.

He has been reduced to a softie, he spats venomously in his mind. A person with a heart, a soul, and emotions. Before him, the only things he felt were amusement, anger, and a thirst for revenge.

Yet here he is, on the ground, weapon pried from his quickly deadening fingers, helpless, and dying.

He laughs; it's a maniacal one, laced with amusement, self-pity, acceptance, and there it was – revenge. He knows he'll die but he also knows he'll be reborn. He knows he will have a second chance – though technically it would be his seventh. He knows this and he knows he will succeed until the very end.

He knows.

As he lies there, his breathing slowly begins to cease. Blood continues flowing.
