As the camera is panning up over the Ferris wheel and showing the houses of Everwood, a familiar, rich, dark voice comes on over the final scene, giving a last narration…
Narrator (Irv):
I wasn't there the day the changes in Dr. Brown's life finally clicked into place. But, I was around for many of the days that would lead him full circle in understanding what it means to be not only a good father but a good man, and a good husband. To not only show love, but give love and accept love freely. I may have not been there the day that he proposed, but I was looking down, knowing that everything would work out fine for him.
I was there for most of the changes for his son. I have seen him grow from the timid unsure teen, to a man who is not only confident in himself, but in his relationships. He doesn't realize it now, but he was a catalyst for changes in everyone around him, not just himself. He challenged his father, pushing him to become a better man, one that he can look up to and model himself after. He pushed the girl to realize what it means to be in love, and know love fully and believe in the one that you are meant to be with. He pushed the man who would become his best friend, his brother, become the man that he dreamed of being.
I wasn't there the day that Dr. Brown's life changed forever, nor will I be around for days that follow. But I can tell you that no matter how much time will past, and no matter where any of the residents may go, Everwood will always be their home.
