Just The Way You Are

I walk down to the edge of the peir where I had seen Chloe rush off to. She always comes here when she was upset. It was like her secret hideout, except I know where it is.

"Chloe," I whisper as I sit down next to her and wrap my arm around her. She sighs and leans her head on my shoulder. When I look down, I can tell she had been crying. "You can't let what they say get to you. You are gorgeous."

"If I'm so gorgeous, why are they always commenting about my weight?"

"Because they're stupid, Chlo-bear. They just can't comprehend how wonderful you are," I say, squeezing her to me for a second.

"Katie?"

"Yes, Chloe?" I ask, looking down at her beautiful face.

"Thank you."

"Why are you thanking me?"

"Because you're sitting here with me, making sure I'm ok like you do everytime this happens, while everyone else just ignores me," she mumbles.

"I will always follow you out to the peir. I will always be your shoulder to cry on, your hand to hold. And I will always be here to wipe your tears away."

"But what happens when I start annoying you?"

I look into her eyes and can tell that she's scared I'll leave. "I'm never going to leave. You can't scare me off. You wanna know why?" I ask.

"Why?"

"Because I love you. Because I wake up every morning and I don't feel complete until I've seen your shining eyes peeking at me from over your coffe cup. Because I smile everytime someone mentions you, and I can't count the amount of people I have taken care of for what they've said about you. Because you are the reason I am still alive, and I will always be in debt. Because there is nothing you could do that would make me stop loving you."

"I'm not that great. I'm barely even mediocre."

"You're perfect. Just the way you are," I say, kissing her forehead and wrapping my arm around my waist. We watch the sunset before heading back in, both of us feeling marginally better than we did before we went out.
