2015 – 2016 Nutrition Services provided through Head Start/Early Head Start:

Ensured that each of the 17 delegate agencies were viable with United States Department of Agriculture Child care Food Program by reviewing all program documents and reviews.

Planned Head Start and Early Head Start four week cycle menus that meet the performance standard and child care food program new 2016 menu requirements.

Completed nutrient analysis for the four week cycle menus to ensure 2/3rd daily recommended dietary needs are met for each Head Start and Early Head Start child.

Nutrition services were provided to 8,139 cumulative enrollment of Head Start and Early Head Start children during the 2015-2016 school year. A total of 1,061,051 breakfasts, 1,099,702 lunches, and 1,066,518 snacks were served.

Completed visits to all 17 delegate agency sites during the 2015-2016 program year to ensure quality nutrition services are being implemented through all sites.

Provision of therapeutic and special menus to accommodate children's individual dietary needs that includes: diabetic, metabolic disorders, food allergies such as no milk, no peanuts or any nuts, vegetarian, no pork, no corn, no eggs, no citrus, bland, no wheat, mechanical soft, specialized diet for autistic children (based on the child's condition), no seafood.

Provision of follow up with individualized nutrition services to include nutrition education or counseling to parents with children identified with nutrition related health problems such as low hemoglobin: 277; food allergy: 59; special diet personal: 31; overweight: 1040; and underweight: 252.

Completed 4,967 nutrition assessments of Head Start and Early Head Start children.

Developed the 2016 Nutrition Education Calendar that provides fun hands on nutrition activities for children to do in the classrooms, healthy recipes, and current nutrition related health information.

Provision of coaching/mentoring and technical assistance to 17 delegate nutrition coordinators/managers and six nutrition consultants.
