NOTE: This is a short Garrison's Gorillas/Sentinel crossover written by RudyBoone fan 1. I'm posting it for her, as she was unable to post it herself.

Debriefing at the Pub

"We all figured that Garrison was one a them Sentinels, ya know? The guy is uncanny the way he sees things and hears stuff. The way he just seems to 'know'. His mind's sharp and kinda twisted and he comes up with better cons then even Actor." Casino put out the cigarette and took a pull off the cold beer in front of him. "See they tell us all the Sentinels are a certain way. They do certain things to protect what's theirs, and our group was Garrison's to use and to protect. Sorta a mobile territory. 'Course Goniff had to be a Guide. The way the guy never stops talkin'. But we were wrong. It wasn't Garrison. Oh he had all the signs all right, and he had Sentinels in his family. He wasn't tho'. Nope, he's a Guide! Who'd believed it huh? Goniff, he's a Guide all right. So we have two of 'em! One normal and one nuts. Then there's the 'Kid'. Everyone called him Chief. He's got no urge we could see to protect anyone. He worked with us because he had to. Just like Actor and me. Least ways that was how it started. Ya see, the way it works, the way they tell us it works, is that the Guide is the heart and the Sentinel is the fighter. So we all could see the Guide in Goniff. The guy has a way of making everyone feel good. He ain't violent at all. Not by choice. Oh he'll kill to protect us if he has to. Doesn't hold back none at all. But Garrison? He's got no soft spots at all that we could see, and he's territorial as hell too. What's his gets protected, and what hurts what's his gets annihilated. Gotta be a Sentinel, right? But Chief, he didn't seem ta give a shit about it or any of us. He worked with us 'cause he had to, and when he killed it didn't seem to bother him much, if at all. First time we fought I kept expectin' a knife in my ribs... but it never came. When Garrison got caught, he was the one talked us into goin' back for him. Like he 'n' Actor said, we go back without him and we'd be running the rest of our lives. Now Actor, he could go the rest of his life without returning to the States, no problem. But the rest of us...well we had family there. Even Chief did we figured. So a course we went and got him out. He was surprised as hell ta see us. He musta figured we'd took off and left him behind. After that we sorta worked things out and settled down for the long haul.

"One day about 8 months later when Garrison had got himself shot (again), I asked Chief why he stuck with us. We all knew enough people now we could just disappear into Europe and stay there. Chief didn't get any mail and didn't send any either, so I figured he was alone like Actor. He just finished his beer and stared at me. Aw come on, I said, I really want to know, ok? 'Ok', he says. 'I stay because the Warden's my Guide.' I about fell off the chair in shock! 'He's a Guide?' 'Yeah, Casino, He's MY GUIDE'. Well shit. Who'da thought that! Chief a Sentinel, sure (he called it being a "Guardian"). But the Warden a Guide? Nah. That was a shocker. Well I just finished my drink and had another. The Warden a Guide. Weird, huh?"

Casino stood. "Thanks for the drink, Col. Richards. I gotta get back. We got to pack our gear up again. We going out soon?" he asked, and Col. Richards nodded.

"Figures. We really are the only guys fighten' this war."

"No, Casino. There are a few other groups." He grinned at the man. "It is your own fault, you know. You men are the best. And everyone wants the best."

Casino groaned. "I'll try to do worse then," he said and left.

"You do that," Richards said softly. "Maybe then I can get you a week off."

Finishing his drink, he walked across the street to his office to meet with Captain Garrison about their newest mission.
