Fish Out of Water
Summary: "She had just been freed from the amulet or years of unexpected hell as she referred to it while alone for a few days and yet Elena was still lost with the times." A little story of confusion and slowly coming together with the years after imprisonment.
Disclaimer: I don't own Elena of Avalor.
Music and dance were back in the kingdom of Avalor as celebration of the return of Princess Elena thanks to Princess Sofia of Enchancia thrived throughout the land.
For a few days at most as even Esteban, who Elena was still unsettled with him helping the woman or the bitch queen of Avalor that she'd heard elders and people her age say under their breath to avoid children listening invade her beloved kingdom and get her parents killed in the process as a way for him to attain power, was happy for the first time in forty one years even if he didn't show it much.
She had just been freed from the amulet or years of unexpected hell as she referred to it while alone for a few days and yet Elena was still lost with the times.
Her friends from childhood were now adults with children and grandchildren of their own concealed with haunting eyes of the years without her.
If only she knew what went wrong all those years ago then maybe she could feel the same pain.
But she couldn't feel the same pain as her once childhood friends from long ago could, watching Isabel try to play with the children of Avalor who were understandably confused as to why a girl who would normally be the age of their grandmother or grandfather if it wasn't for the painting that she was held in would suddenly show up out of nowhere.
Try was a word Elena was slowly getting used to. Try to walk without looking like your legs are jello, try not to think about getting trapped in another amulet by anyone (who wasn't Mateo) that uses magic for the wrong, try not to cry over what happened to your beloved kingdom while you were trapped (which Elena had done the night before, making her lose more sleep than needed even though during her time in the amulet, sleep wasn't that big of a deal and neither was food or bathing for that matter) and most definitely out of the tries, try to belong.
But how could she belong? How could Isabel belong? How could their grandparents belong?
The games and toys from her and Isabel's childhoods were antiquated, washed up, and out of date.
The ways of her grandparents were still there however as with what was considered to be the bitch queen of Avalor, you couldn't do much unless you wanted the guards of said bitch queen on your ass.
And Elena bet that those guards had killed more innocents while she was trapped, ruining the lives of families all throughout Avalor.
She felt terrible for those families as people around her celebrated her return like it was sort of brazzle dazzle day.
It felt like a day that she could replay over and over again but had she known that breaking a wand was the only way to defeat the bitch of Avalor then she wouldn't have been trapped.
And maybe she would've grown up normally and not a fifty seven year old trapped with the mind and body of a sixteen year old.
Still she would try and try she shall in order to not only restore her beloved kingdom to where it once had been before everything that had happened to her and her family but to be with the times.
Even if she didn't know how, her cousin did and though he regretted what he had done with a surprise of her not banishing him for being the bitch of Avalor in to ruin their childhood kingdom, she was sure that Esteban and her grandparents would help her rule Avalor with grace and dignity.
