It was early, too early to have a case and too early to not have coffee and yet here they were. Emily lived on coffee about as much as an Army ran on their stomach. She couldn't even function properly without it and as the Unit Chief, she needed to function properly.

Emily walked into the BAU at the crack of dawn completely exhausted only to find Dave had beat her to the coffee. He seemed to be making his unmistakably black and extremely strong coffee, which of course no one on the team dare try for fear of coffee poisoning. Dave's coffee was so strong Emily was fairly sure the Marines had invented it themselves. It seemed that Dave was the only one there with the stomach for black coffee. Well until today…

"Can you pour me some," she asked him tiredly.

"You want my black coffee?" Dave faked shock and astonishment.

"Yes, now do it before I decide that that office of yours is too big for you," Emily threatened lightly.

"Remind me not to mess with you before your morning coffee," Dave joked as he turned to pour her a mug. Emily sighed as the warm cup touched her hands and the smell of strong caffeine hit her nose. God she loved coffee so much, it had practically replaced her blood supply.

Emily took a sip and immediately spit it out in the sink, "Ugh, it tastes like sludge," she recoiled from her mug.

Dave was smirking at her as he took a long drink of his coffee "Yes, but it's caffeinated sludge," he raised his mug before taking another sip and chuckling as he walked away from the disgusted Emily, a smile firmly on his lips.

"Ugh, Marines and their coffee…" Emily mumbled as she dumped her mug and made a new thing of coffee that was much less potent.
