He's leaving her again. She runs, but her legs won't carry her as fast as she needs, and then she sees.

Akito.

She's not afraid; not afraid, she tells herself. But then she sees the knife. She goes backwards, backwards.

Akito moves forward.

Kyo hears the scream, and then he's running back. He sees them both, standing there, and Tohru is bleeding. Akito looks his way and smirks, pointing the knife at Tohru once more. Everybody moves at once. Tohru's moving back, back, but she feels her heels hanging off the cliff and moves forward. Akito moving towards her, and Kyo's moving towards Akito.

Akito and Tohru are inches apart, and Kyo reaches for the knife.

Silence.

Drops of blood.

Another scream pierces the air. Shigure walks into the clearing, his eyes widening as he looks into the clearing. "Akito.. Akito!"

There's the thud of a body hitting the ground, the sounds of sobbing. Akito pulls the knife out of his dead body, and Tohru scoots closer, not willing to believe. But she knows.

Shigure stumbles into the godforsaken place, forcing his heart to keep beating. "Akito..."

Akito moves backwards, dropping the knife and pulling her hands to her mouth. "I didn't do it... It wasn't me! It was her.. That woman... That woman!" She said, her finger pointed towards Tohru.

Shigure looks at her, his eyes closing before his head sinks into his hands. "I didn't think... I didn't think she'd do something this... like this... No matter how angry, I didn't think she was capable.. Sorry.. I'm sorry!"

Tohru rests her head on his chest, searching for a beat in vain. "Kyo-kun... Kyo-kun... Kyo!" She sobs.

Shigure looks up again, starting to walk towards Akito once more. She picks up the knife and points it in his direction. "S-stay back!" She screams, but he keeps going.

"You learned a long time ago that I wasn't afraid of you anymore..."

"Stay away from me!" She drops the knife and runs away. Shigure takes a step, two steps, before he looks back at Tohru. Her tear stained face lifts slightly to meet his eyes, and he runs after Akito again.

"Kyo-kun..." She lifts him up so he's laying on her lap, and brushes his hair out of his face. She hears them fighting a ways in the distance, but she doesn't lift her head up.

She bends over more so she's resting on top of him again, and wraps her arms around him. The sobs start up again, and she shakes as she holds his cold body closer to her.

"I'm sorry..."

God knows who did the apologizing that night.
