Summary: Sam arrives on Brooke's doorstep asking for forgiveness.
Brooke was Sam's kryptonite. You could hold a gun to her head and ask her to pick between herself and Brooke and she wouldn't even have to think about it. She was so in love with Brooke it consumed her completely. And was likely to be the death of her.
Which is why it destroyed her when they fought.
It was always explosive between them. Like the merging of hot and cold. Which was a fitting analogy, considering the weather.
Thunder and lightening ruled the sky that particular afternoon, as Sam, soaked to the bone, made her way up the driveway. Her feet made a squelching sound as she walked. She'd been walking for what felt like, and could have easily been, hours.
All Brooke had done was have coffee with Josh. And Sam had overreacted and freaked out. It was no excuse for her behaviour, but she was just so afraid of losing Brooke. Which made her actions even more ridiculous, because blowing a fuse like that was doing exactly the opposite of what she wanted. Pushing Brooke away. When all Sam wanted to do was hold her close forever.
Shivering and cringing slightly at a particularly loud clap of thunder, Sam stepped onto a porch whose swing she had spent many an evening in, watching the sunset with a warm body nestled against her own, and knocked on the door.
Brooke answered, bone dry and beautiful. And Sam, drenched and pathetic looking could only utter one word.
"Hello."
