I Need You Now Tonight

Summary: The powerful man finally declares his feelings to the man he loves. Crossover Merlin/Heroes drabble.

Pairings: See if you can figure it out the two pairings (one is from the Heroes universe and the other is from the Merlin universe). Two of the characters are already given to you, and the other Hero's name rhymes with "heater". I will facepalm if you can't figure out the fourth.

Author's note: This was definitely inspired by queenoftheoutlands's fan fic "My Lover's Gone" (which is also a Merlin/Heroes crossover fic). The plot bunny for this story attacked out of nowhere when I rewatched Heroes 1x23 (that is, the Season 1 final episode) just before I wrote and published this...*shrugs*. The title for this fan fic is a lyric from the song "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler (which I don't own).

Warnings: A wee bit of slash, obviously. No spoilers.

Disclaimer: I don't own Merlin nor Heroes. I do however own a ballpoint pen, which I find is useful for writing with.

The taller man put his hand on the other man's shoulder. The other man jerked around, but relaxed when he realised who the other man was.

"I'm sorry," the first man said, releasing his grip on his companion's shoulder. He sat down on a chair across from the table.

"For what?" the other man asked.

"I've been ignoring you lately. I've treated you badly, and I'm sorry."

"It's okay."

"No, it's not okay." The taller, more powerful man's face was set in a serious expression. "I've been mean to you all this time, and I've threatened to kill you. I'm so sorry that I did you wrong. I was seeing that girl, and I should have realised how much it hurt you to see us together."

The other man looked deep into the other man's eyes, absorbing all of his companion's words. The taller man put his hands around the other man's.

"I broke up with her today."

"Why would you do that?"

"Because, my friend, I don't love her. I want to say what I've been blindly denying all of this time." The taller man paused, and quickly said, "I love you."

There was silence. The other man had dreamed that this day would come, but never thought that it actually would. It was true, the two men disliked each other at first, even leading to outright hostility between one another, but in time understanding brought feelings about that felt wrong, yet somehow felt so right.

The taller man rose to leave, but the other man moved around the table and stopped him.

"Don't go."

"I should."

"No, don't. I need you to know that I love you too, and I always will. Don't go because I need you now tonight, and I need you more than ever."

The men held on to each other in a warm embrace. For the first time in a long time, the taller man smiled.

"I hope that in time you will forgive me," the taller man whispered in the other man's ear.

"You know that I already have."

So the tall man stayed by his companion's side forever.
