A dragon lays, fast asleep

A hobbit, a thief, begins to creep

In search of the Arkenstone

Which belongs to the Dwarve King on the throne

The hobbit begins on his way

Careful not to overstep his stay

He sees a glint of something old

But soon realizes its only gold

The whole mountain is like a golden river

A sudden gust of wind makes the hobbit shiver

Only, wind it is not

The hobbit turns around and what he sees glues him to the spot

The dragon now has awaken

This images causes the hobbit to become shaken

But soon he puts on the ring

Surely the dragon didn't see a thing

But the dragon saw

And with a swipe of his claw

Caught the hobbit of guard

It missed him by at least a yard

"Show yourself, whoever you are"

Then the hobbit saw something that looked like a star

It was the Arkenstone

"I can smell you wherever you go

So stop hiding in in the shadows"

Bilbo pulled off the ring and made the run

He grabbed the stone, his mission was almost done

The dragon followed him though

He followed him out of the mountain, into the snow

But once he was out he saw Lake Town

Having an idea, Smaug flew down

Oh no, Bilbo fretted

For he had regretted

Disturbing the monster guarding the gold

Slay the monster was what he had been told

But the beast had armor the couldn't be slain

Screams were heard, fire was blown

Bilbo could feel each persons pain

But Bilbo remember something he had forgot before

He returned to the mountain and closed the door

The Dragon had a weak spot

It was their only shot

At saving the town

And returning Thorin his crown
