When I first moved to the US I was seven and my sister, Bianca, was nine. The next door neighbor had a boy named Jason, my age, and a girl named Thalia, Bianca's age. I became close friends with Jason; while Bianca became close friend's with Thalia.
One thing that I hated then is how Jason and Bianca were always telling me and Thalia that we were gonna get married some day. I mean, I'll admit Thalia has beautiful eyes, but you don't marry someone because of their eyes.
I remember how Thalia always told me that she was gonna beat me up, but she never did more than tackle me.
At one point I made a stupid bet with Jason, he bet me that if I dared Thalia to kiss me, she would. I didn't think that she would. But of course she did it. That night I thought to myself that obviously she would do it she's that kind of girl. The next day at school, a boy dared her to kiss them. And she refused, flat out refused!
Then disaster struck there was a shooting at my school. Everyone that was there, died. Thalia and I stayed home sick that day. Bianca and Jason died along with our friends, Annabeth, Percy, Piper, Hazel, Leo, Frank, and Reyna. I'll admit I had never been close with any of them, but they accepted me.
After the shooting I decided I didn't need any friends. But Thalia had also lost all her friends and forced me to spend time with her. In way I'm glad she did that, who knows what I would've done without her.
When I was about sixteen, Thalia started to look at me differently. At that point, I didn't know how else to explain it. She also started to blush at stuff I had said, which took a while to figure out since I don't talk much. Then, it all made sense when she asked me to dinner with her. All I could think was how if Jason and Bianca where there they would just say 'I told you so.'
From then on we were hardly ever separated. Most weekends Thalia and I drove around town and the neighboring countryside in her car. I grew to truly appreciate her presence constantly by my side.
Anytime we had any kind of fight she would always camp out on the porch. Then, in the mornings we would always apologize.
The years went on like that. Then, one day Thalia and I were sitting together at our favorite spot, when she got down one knee and pulled out a ring. I smiled and said, "Jason always told me that you would be the one to propose."
I don't remember much about the time between then and the wedding, and all I remember about the wedding was that we both said "I do."
Now, I'm 87 and Thalia's 89. She still has the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen.
