Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Trust Thomas" from Season 3. Enjoy and comment.
One morning, Thomas the Tank Engine was feeling bright and cheerful. He decided to whistle to some cows.
"Good morning!" he whistled to the cows.
But the cows didn't reply.
"Never mind." said Thomas, "they must be busy with their breakfast."
Next, he saw Bertie."
"Hello Bertie! Care for a race today?"
Bertie was so distracted by Thomas, that he fell on a hole in the road, causing a flat tire!
"I'm sorry Bertie!" smiled Thomas.
Thomas was still in a good mood when Bertie arrived at the next station, with a new tire.
"You need rails!" said Thomas. "That way, you'll never get a flat tire!"
Bertie was cross.
"They were supposed to mend the road two weeks ago! You can never trust rails!"
"But you can trust me." said Thomas as he puffed away to Knapford Station.
James was shunting freight cars in the yard.
"It's not fair!" he groaned. "Percy gets to work at the harbor, and I have to do his job!"
He banged the freight cars crossly.
"Ow!" groaned the freight cars.
Gordon was watching.
"I'll tell you what James. If you pretend to be ill, you won't have to shunt freight cars!"
"What a good idea!" agreed James.
Then, Thomas puffed up. He was sorry to see the engines looking miserable.
"Cheer up!" he puffed. "It's a beautiful day!"
"Yes." grumbled Gordon, "but not for James."
"What's the matter?" asked Thomas.
"He's sick!" replied Gordon.
"I am!" said James. "I don't feel well at all!"
"Don't worry!" said Thomas kindly. "I'll help you if you're ill!"
Then Thomas puffed away.
James and Gordon laughed quietly to each-other.
On the way to the quarry, the cars were cross.
"We can't pay James back, so we'll play tricks on Thomas! One engine is as good as another!"
But Thomas didn't hear them. He collect all the stone from the quarry, and set off for the junction.
But danger lay ahead! Points were lied out by a jetty by the pond.
"Slow down!" called Thomas's driver.
The driver applied the brakes, but it was too late! The jetty pulled Thomas straight across the pond!
"Bother!" said Thomas as a frog watched him. "The day started off so good!"
Duck pulled away the cars, and Edward helped Thomas get back to the junction.
Suddenly, Thomas remembered the missing tar. He told Edward all about it.
"That's strange!" said Edward. "Tar wagons have been left at my station. They've been sitting there for weeks! I'll make sure it gets to Bertie!"
Later, James spoke to Thomas.
"I'm sorry about your accident." said James, "and so is Gordon."
"It's only a mere understanding!" grumbled Gordon. "All is well."
Just then, Bertie arrived. He looked much more cheerful.
"My road is being mended!" said Bertie.
"I am glad." replied Thomas.
"Thanks for all you did!" added in Bertie. "Now I know I can trust you!"
Gordon and James puffed away to the sheds, leaving Thomas and Bertie by themselves.
"What a day for surprises!" said Thomas.
