Wake up. These are the first words I hear as I awake in this barren wasteland. The ground was warm and rocky, with the sky- no ceiling being only miles above with jagged stalactites hanging from the ceiling. The emptiness made the place have a disturbing feeling, and the red tint of everything didn't help either.
Out of nowhere I hear footsteps. Not a man's, but something just a bit bigger. I turn to see a man walking toward me, hidden in a hooded black cloak that went all the way to the ground. I turn to face him, and he is upon me. He removes his hood and stares at me. Well, I can only assume he stares, because his face is covered by a crude iron helmet. He towers above me at about 15 feet tall, yet I'm still not imposed by his appearance.
"Who are you?" I ask him simply.
"That, boy, is none of your concern. Just know that you are in grave danger, and that I am only here to help you." His tone is very deep and commanding. It's that kind of voice that makes you stand straighter just because you should.
"Danger? What are you talking about?" I say to him.
"You will find out soon enough. Until then, take this, as a gift."
He holds out his palm and kneels. With a small flash of fire, a black iron gauntlet appears in his hand. I take it then slip it onto my arm. It's cool black metal feels great against my burning skin.
"Wear it with pride. Now go, my son," the man says as I fall out of my sleep.
I awaken in my bed, wondering what had just happened. I shake it off as I remember what the man said; "You are in grave danger." In danger of what? I had no clue what he meant, but I had the feeling it wasn't a good thing. I got up to go take my shower and clean myself up before school started. I look at myself in the mirror and find a surprise. My eyes are full black. Not just the pupils and such, but full black. I study them carefully, then blink. I look again, and my eyes have turned into full white. I study them once more before blinking again. This time they turn back to normal.
"That was the weirdest thing," I say to myself. I then look down at my left hand, and my eyes widen. The gauntlet from the dream is still there, and it looks the exact same as before. I look at it more carefully. Its a black gauntlet that has a blood red gem on my forehand, then the gauntlet goes from my forearm to halfway up my fingers. I slip it off and set it on my sink. I walked away for a minute to get my towel, then when I came back the gauntlet had changed.
It was now a bracelet with the same blood red gem on it.
"Well that makes things a whole lot weirder and easier," I say to myself. Without thinking about what had just happened, I jumped into the shower like every normal school day. As I got out i put on my normal outfit; a pair of grey and black shorts and my red under armour. I slipped on the bracelet and my shoes then ran outside to my car.
