The Annual Wildcat Fair
One Shot
It was dark and dismal day in Albuquerque. It was the day of the Annual Wildcat Fair. Teenagers all over the city hoping it would brighten up.
Across town two teens were waking up basking in each other's warmth. Troy and Gabriella were East High's golden couple. Together for over a year, they were inseparable. Today they were ready to spend a fun relaxed day together at the school fair.
"Morning," whispered Gabriella
"Morning," yawned Troy sitting up and stretching
"Time to get up?" asked Gabriella
"Yeah you shower first and I'll make breakfast," smiled Troy
"You use my shower, I'll use mum's and we'll both make breakfast," amended Gabriella
"Sounds like a plan," said Troy swinging his legs out of bed
20 minutes later the couple were seated eating bacon, toast and scrambled eggs before they headed to the fair.
Much to the teens delight the sky had brightened matching the moods of the fair goers. The sun was shining bright on the wildcats who after a week of work were ready for some fun in the sun. With exams looming closer and graduation not long off, the wildcats wanted so time to spend to together before they hit the books-even though some of them already were- and parted from each other. They wanted some memoires and were better to make them then East High's Annual Wildcat Fair.
The school was packed when Troy and Gabriella strolled up old and present wildcats roamed the campus along with friends and families. The school was an array of wildcat colours.
The school was field was littered with fair rides and stalls as were the halls and classrooms.
Troy and Gabriella had opted out of helping so they could spend the day together. But they knew they would get roped into helping at some point.
And as they passed the Scholastic Decathlon stall Gabriella was yanked away from Troy by a panicked Taylor.
"Rani isn't here," said Taylor
"What was she doing?" asked Gabriella
"Taking the money," said Taylor
Gabriella surveyed the stall.
"Well there's enough of you for someone else to do that," suggested Gabriella
"Amy can you do money?" asked Taylor
"I thought Rani was doing it," said Amy
"Rani hasn't turned up," said Taylor
"Can't Gabriella do it?" asked Amy
"Gabriella hasn't signed up to help today," said Taylor sending a pleading look at Gabriella
Gabriella turns to Troy who is looking slightly disgruntled.
"I couldn't do that to Troy," whispered Gabriella
"I'll do the money," said Taylor
Troy and Gabriella continue to stroll though the fair, getting snacks, going on rides and having fun together. And they didn't even have to help.
"I have a surprise for you later," said Troy
"Ooh," said Gabriella
"So I am going to leave you with Taylor for half an hour and then I will come and get you," said Troy
"Ok," said Gabriella
Troy heads off to step up the surprise as Gabriella goes to help at the Scholastic Decathlon stall.
Half hour later Troy comes back and whisks an excited Gabriella away to night of romance at the movies.
He had decorated the Montez's lounge transforming into a dark cinema room. He had dimmed the lights set up so battery operated floor lights, had a takeaway waiting and had scattered pale pink and red rose petals everywhere. He had a very important question to ask Gabriella.
But if you want to find that out you'll have to read the sequel when it is written.
