My tribute to Mononoke Hime, and an idea of how life went for them after the death of the Forest Spirit. Enjoy.

Disclaimer: I don't own Mononoke Hime, it belongs to Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli.

My Heart

In the silver glow of the moon, I saw your form

As you trembled like a hummingbird's wings.

With the starlight in your eyes, you reached out to me.

The one who wishes to know your heart.

When the sun had set, I found you,

You, a beautifully haunting spirit.

You gaze was that of a knife,
So sharp upon me.

The only one who knows what's in your heart.

All your years of sorrow and grief,

Were released in secret in that silvery forest.

You let me see the side of you that had been buried

In the painful grasp of your mind.

You cried helplessly in my arms,

But my heart swelled with joy,

Joy that you would come to me,

And bare your soul.

To me, the only one to hold your heart.

When the morning returns, you turn to flee,

To race back into the safety of the woods.

I just smile at your retreating form,

Which shines gold in the sun's light,

Knowing that tonight, you will find me again,

To share your heart once more.
