.:My Martha:.

.:Chapter One: A Bad Arrival:.

"Ianto!" Jack called as he pointed at an incapacitated weevil, "Take him down, please." He ordered.

"Yes Sir!" Ianto turned to see Owen and Gwen, who had just entered the hub holding the incapacitated extraterrestrial , and carried out his given orders. Jack went to his office and sat, he needed to relax, he had been in a bit of a foul mood the last few days, though everyone knew what was wrong, not one of the Torchwood team could explain why he was in such a sour frame of mind. Two weeks and three days ago Jack had missed the rare occurrence of the Doctor showing up in Cardiff and under some rather unfortunate and embarrassing circumstances: he had gone to the local store, and had been shot as someone attempted to rob the place, when he woke, Toshiko informed him of some odd energy spikes and a strange blue police box appearing just outside of the hub.

"Jack…" The small voice made its way into the room as Gwen stood at the door. The Captain looked up at the beautiful dark-haired Welsh girl, "… Are you alright? I mean, I know you're upset that you missed your Doctor and everything, but does it really mean that much?"

Jack's head fell, "It kinda does mean that much Gwen…" He started, but he didn't finish his sentence.

"Why don't you go for a rest or something Jack?" Gwen suggested, worried about her boss and friend, "We'll all be here when you wake up and we'll wake you if anything happens, alright?" Jack moaned, rejecting her idea, "Jack, you can't stay up forever, and a little rest won't kill you!"

"Fine!" Jack finally gave in, sulking like a child being sent to their room, "I suppose you're right…"

"You know I'm right, I always am!" Gwen joked as Jack lay down on the sofa, "Sweet dream Jack!" Gwen said sarcastically and walked out of the Captain's office to join Toshiko, "Hi Tosh."

"Hey Gwen." Tosh said, never moving her eyes from the computer monitor, "Did you actually manage to get him to go to sleep!?"

"Yeah!" Gwen laughed, "He needs a good rest." She sighed, "But he wants us to wake him if there's any rift activity."

"Typical Jack, eh?" Tosh scoffed.

"Here you are ladies." Ianto said, handing Gwen and Tosh their coffees, "Has he been asleep this entire time?" He asked looking to Jack's office.

"Yep!" Gwen answered, "Six hours, forty-three minutes…" Gwen said looking to Tosh for confirmation.

"And counting!" She said, then the three of began to laugh, until the computers detected some major energy spikes, but they weren't from the rift.

"Tosh…" Gwen said, slightly worried, "What is it?"

"I don't know, there's been major energy spikes detected, but it's not from the rift!" She began to click at things, "It's been detected before according to the computer, but the computer won't tell me where from." Suddenly an odd whirring noise was beginning to make itself known, "That's not our alarm, is it?"

"No…" Gwen answered quietly, "Ianto go wake Jack, then see where Owen is, please darling?"

"Sure!" Ianto replied, heading toward Jack's office, but he had no need to go and find Owen, as he was making his way toward Gwen and Tosh.

"Jack…?" Ianto said cautiously, slowly making his way into the room where Jack was sleeping, "Jack." He said this time only slightly louder, and Jack woke.

"Ianto, what is it?" He asked, "Activity?" Ianto nodded, then the noise invading the hub made its way to Jack's ears. He shot up and ran to where the rest of the team were stood to see a blue box materialising
