Break A Leg

It has been 6 months since Aunt Mel had been in a terrible accident that crushed her leg, while her recovery was slow and painful she had pulled though. With my help and that of physical therapy, she was able to use a prosthetic leg. Today was special. It was her last day of therapy.

"Where we going?" Josh asked.

"To pick up Aunt Mel's gift." I said. We made our way to a medical store. I had a special ordered prosthetic that was customized to look like her lost limb. Fortunately the woman at the desk gave it to me. It was marvelous. With that we went. Putting the prosthetic in the trunk of the car, we went to pick her up. To my surprise she was waiting on us. She was standing on a standard prosthetic with crutches in her hand. Her pregnant belly was heaving with exhaustion. She was sweating. It was obvious she had been put though her paces. She deserved this gift.

"Aunt Mel how was therapy?" I asked helping her into the car.

"Dreadful! That woman is pushing me way to hard." She said hotly.

"It's not that bad Mel. It's just that you have to fuse the muscles in your back to compensate for not having no legs. Besides Ray only pushes you because she believes in you." Josh said.

"I suppose you're right." She replied.

"Well maybe my gift will help." I said.

"What sort of gift?" She asked.
