"B1."
"Hit."
"Yes!" Matt grinned. Near hadn't hit too many battleships yet, while he had gotten two or three.
"MATT! WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU?!" The gamer cringed as Mello's furious yell echoed through the rooms. The blonde stormed in and over to Matt, smacking him upside the head. "There you are! I've been looking everywhere for you and then I find you here with him!" Mello pointed to the albino child.
"No need to be possessive Mello..." Near ignored the yelling. "Matt, D6?"
Matt shrank in his chair. "Hit."
"Matt! Are you ignoring me?!" Mello's eyes narrowed.
"No..." Matt mumbled.
"Mello... we're trying to play battleship peacefully. So if you could be polite as too... shut up." Mello growled his face turning red with burning rage. His fists clenched so that the knuckles turned white. "I don't think I need to remind you of what Roger said..." Near studied his side of the game, "that if you lay even a finger on me to harm me..."
"Shut up you freak!" Mello shouted. "I know what Roger said!" The angry blonde turned back to the quiet Matt. "You... what are you doing hanging out with albino dork? You were suppose to be hanging out with me!"
"I'm playing battleship with Near..."
"I can see that!" Mello snorted annoyed.
"Near... B7?"
"Miss."
"MATT!"
"What?!" Matt barked back at Mello. "I am allowed to have other friends Mells."
"No you're NOT! You're my friend and I'm not sharing especially not with him!" Mello stomped his foot, throwing a fit.
"God Mello!" Matt stood up. "I can be both your friends!"
"No you can't! You're my friend and my friend only!" The blonde pouted angrily.
"Please stop arguing." Near twirled a finger around snow white locks of hair. Matt nodded. Mello finally couldn't take any more of Near's babbling. He brought a fist back but he didn't hit the white haired child like he planned to. His fist hit Matt, who had dived in the way to protect Near.
The redhead tumbled back into the table sending the game clattering to the floor. Pieces spilled and rolled, creating a large mess. Roger ran in as Matt slowly got up. "What's going on?"
Before the other two could speak Matt piped up, "I tripped and fell..." Roger sighed.
"Be more careful Matt... clean up this mess Mello, Matt. Near... I need to speak to you a moment."
"Yes sir." they chimed in unison. When Roger was gone with Near, Mello looked at Matt.
"What the heck was that for?" He growled as the duo picked up the pieces of the game.
"What?"
"Covering for me?"
"You're my friend Mello. You'd get in trouble if Roger found out what you'd attempted to do."
"Shut up Matt... so... who was... winning..."
"..." The gamer smirked. This fact alone would bring him back into his friend's favor. "I was winning."
Mello laughed and patted Matt's shoulder. "I'm proud of you Matt."
"You better. I lost fifty times just to win that once! Battleship isn't as easy as it looks."
"You think I could beat Near?" Mello muttered quizically.
"Yeah. I think you could. Then you could rub his face in the dirt."
"Are you sure you'd be okay with that. I mean, you are friends with him."
"I meant you could rub his face in the dirt verbally... not literally."
"Well... that takes all the fun out of it!" Mello chuckled sadistically. "But since you're so against it... I'll leave him alone... this time."
