They did everything together.

For as long as you could remember, you were always by her side. You would sneak over that wall and see her playing in the courtyard. You would run up to her and you both would play for hours on end. When the time came for you to go home she would help you out the gate with a few little snacks that the servants gave her to eat. The servants all wore the same color, a sea blue that matched her pretty eyes. She would always smile at you and ask you to come again the next day.

You would look forward to the next day and the day after that because she was your everything, even at a young age of 8. Life was so rough at your own house that when you played with her at her own yard, you felt a little more at home.

The whispers in the town next day got you a little worked up. There was a rumor that the little estate with the pretty perfect blue clad people was falling apart, and not physically. The man of the Household had been murdered by a peasant.

Even if your life wasn't perfect, even if you thought you were worthless, she was always there to remind you that life wasn't over. You ran as fast as your legs could carry you. She stood outside of her home holding her mother's hand.

She looked up to you and smiled, she got a nodding approval from her mother.

She held your hand. "I'm afraid this is goodbye Karkat…"

You stared at her in disbelief, "What do you mean? Vriska? Where are you going?"

"My mother and I were sold, a man named Scratch took over our home. He sold us because he had no use for us." She stared at the ground.

"You can't leave! You can stay with me!" You almost shook her. She let go of your hand. "I'm sorry Karkat. I have to leave now. Here." She took a picture out of her sleeve. "Promise you'll get better at writing your characters?"

Tears welled up in your eyes. You felt as if you were receiving the death sentence. "I promise…"

"Thank you…" She looks at the man who bought them. She turns and winks at you. "I'll see you again soon, I just know it."
