A story inspired by me, well, smiling about something. It's hard to hide smiles in these situations, isn't it?
"My, someone's looking grumpy today."
"Idiot, that's because you woke me up."
Neji smiled. "Would it have been better if she woke you up instead of me?"
Shikamaru shut his eyes. "Yes."
Before opening them quickly once again "Wait, no. Shut up man."
Neji chuckled, lending out a hand to help him up.
"The girls are waiting, best not to keep them doing so again."
He took the hand and sighed. "Troublesome. Alright, let's go."
As the two walked off to meet the girls, Neji looked at his friend.
"You seemed very peaceful while you slept. In a good mood?"
Shikamaru looked up into the sky. "I'm going to be meeting a troublesome, loud, harsh, and tiring woman who people think I see too often."
He smirked. "Of course I'm in a good mood."
Neji looked ahead of them. "I see."
"Why?"
"You were smiling," Neji replied. "You're not the type to smile so much, being as lazy as you are. Not in the glad, cheery sort of way like I saw you, at least."
Shikamaru chuckled. "I guess so."
"Hey!"
The two of them turned around, seeing Tenten and Temari sitting down.
"We knew you guys would be late," began Tenten, "so we ordered a while ago."
Temari rolled her eyes. "Told you."
Tenten giggled. "I know."
The girls looked back up at the two boys.
"What are you guys doing still standing? Especially you lazy ass, I would have thought you'd be down by now."
Shikamaru sighed. "Alright woman, I'll sit down."
"Good," Temari replied, watching the food being brought to their table. "If you don't mind, we'll eat now."
"Of course."
After they ate, The pairs split up to enjoy the rest of the night.
Shikamaru thought back to what Neji mentioned earlier before. He looked at Temari.
She looked at him back.
"Why are you smiling?"
"Do I need a reason to smile?"
"Yes."
"Because I'm happy."
"Why are you happy?"
"Do I need to have a reason to be happy?"
"Yes."
"Hmm, can it be because I'm spending time with you?"
"Hmm, no," she replied teasingly, before placing her head on his shoulder.
"Yeah, I didn't think so," he answered back, once again looking back at the sky.
"But that's the only answer I got."
She took his hand in hers and smiled back. "Then I guess that's the answer I'll have to take."
End.
