One, two, three—snap!

There was suddenly nothing.

As soon as the darkness came, something else came into view. Katerina Petrova was lying in a field filled with tall green and yellow grass. Flowers of multiple colors surrounded her as well. The sky was a pure blue and white, fluffly clouds consumed some of the open space. It was quite beautiful, reminding the teenage girl of the field in her home country of Bulgaria. Somewhere where she loved to go when she was a child. But it couldn't be. Katerina was in Hell.

Perhaps the devil is trying to torture me with memories of my home, she thought, sitting up.

Katerina looked around, her expression a bit frightened. The fear of Klaus and Elijah coming and snatching her away from the sacrifice still lingered in her chest. The words that the elder brother had spoken to her while she was waiting for his brother repeated over and over in her mind. I do not believe in love, his voice told her, but she knew that it wasn't true. She could see the look in his eyes when she caught him glancing at her. All of the small conversations that they had shared and all the games that they had played suddenly reappeared in her mind. He had loved her and something inside her had felt something for him too, but she had admired Klaus more. Well, before she knew what they were.

Then, the world around her started to change and Katerina screamed. The bright red flames of Hell must be coming to take her to away to burn eternally, but it never came. The room in which she had died in started to fade in and she didn't understand what was happening. It wasn't the fiery gates of Hell around her, but it was the fire inside of her. It was burning her throat.

Reality set in and she realized what she was.

She was a vampire.
