Prologue.
Jack stared at the bright orange and red mass of hair. She flipped the coin. "Heads, your go."
He looked at her. "Why do you want me to see this?"
She twisted slightly from her black tree branch. "Because I want you, and all of you to see what I remember, why I didn't ever include you in anything, why I ignored you, even though I lived here."
Jack scowled as he held the cup filled with the dark murky water. "Will it show you why you're doing this?"
She nodded twisting so she was upside down and face to face with Jack. "It will even show you that."
He looked at this. "What does this do?"
"It's from the pool of Past. It will show you my memoires, my memories of you and your own memories of the past. If you do this, and only you do this, then you can decide if you want me as a guardian."
He looked at her and swallowed, almost immediately his vison went black. He hurt the crunch of her feet on the leaves. "Huh, guess it works.
"If it doesn't work, and you don't get out of the memories fast enough, you'll die. Just a note."
That was the last thing he heard as he slipped into the memories.
