Hola Ladies and Gents. I'm not dead (yet). Here's a one-shot because I can't accomplish anything larger.

Strings

"If you tie a string around your finger to remind yourself of something, chances are you won't forget it!" Aryll once told Toon Link. She took one of Grandma's silver spools of thread and on cut herself a strand, and make a little bow round her older brother's finger. "Don't forget to fight as hard as you can, and come home. I hope you have fun at the Smash Bros. Tournaments, Big Brother!"

Toon Link was just about to throw in the towel. The sun was boiling here in Delfino Plaza, making him exhausted about two minutes into the fight. He and Lucas were against Wario and Lucario, and their opponents had proven themselves to be a terrifyingly strong duo. His sword was dull, and Lucas was nearing the last of his PK energy. He stopped to rest as Master Hand called a Pause Session of their Brawl.

Lucas plopped down beside Toon, sighing and using PK Ice to cool them off. Across the battlefield, Wario and Lucario sat, fanning themselves from the hot summer sun.

"This has to be the toughest battle this week, huh Toon?" Lucas asked. He didn't wait for a reply. "Hottest day too. Super Mario Sunshine is known for being, well, sunny. I never expected it to be this bad."

Toon nodded. He had about three layers of clothing on, plus a tunic. At least Lucas had a T-Shirt. He wasn't really paying the other boy much attention as he babbled on and on.

"Yeah, so apparently, Ness and Jigglypuff know each other pretty well. I never would have guessed, but they do. They even text each other! How the heck do you TEXT a Pokemon, anyway? Most don't have thumbs!"

Toon Link nodded as he reached down to grab his sword, as a loud beep resounded through the battlefield. Two-minute warning. He bent down to grab his sword, when he caught sight of the silver little string clinging to his pinky.

"So yeah, That happened. Also, Peach was telling me that she knows a girl named Toadette I could get to know. I don't know what I want to do, though. Toads can be weird. Are those turbans on their heads or what?"

Toon Link looked at his hand, watching the light glint off of the little thread. When did that get here? It looked an awful lot like Grandma's thread too... then it hit him. Aryll tied that thread there. She wanted him to be strong. To fight hard. Losing to a Mario-wannabe and a Pokemon was not being strong.

"PLAY!" Boomed a voice as the battle resumed. Lucas stood up, grabbing his batting Link clutched his sword and grinned. He would make Aryll and Grandma proud when he won a battle, like what he intended on doing now.

Done! (I've seriously got to cut it on the one-shots :P) Hope you liked it! R&R's are great, as are Favorites! Thanks for reading!
